I don't really think this new video is that good either. It's cool to see them all hanging out and shit but i didn't even watch the whole video, it was too random and boring.

If this was released in the mid-late 90's then people would be all over trying to get the Video cassette and would probably appreciate it a bit more.

It's the internet and the ease of obtaining it (and everything else) that sucks the excitement out of it (well, for me personally).

It was kind of fun to see some behind-the-scenes clips of the band I guess, but it would have been nice to see a video that related to the song a little more.

i like that the guys get along better now, enjoying each others company, enjoying themselves etc. but i just don't know why that has got to show in their art (such as music and videos) i wish they would go for some dark shit in the music and weird shit in the videos. they can show their happy side in the interviews

it'd come off as forced and contrived if they were dark for the sake of being dark. write what you know and you'll maintain a quality you can at least be proud of. that's the great part of S/T. it's so dark and heavy because you can tell chino really fucking meant that shit.

i agree s/t feels honest. but they've been making music for 23 years i think they can pull it off again, it's their job and they're pro's.for exampleif one take of vocals seems forced,then record another take. it's not hard.it's just that they don't want to. "ooh im so happi, let's make happi happi music and happi happi videos" to hell withit.

take fireal for instance, shit's dark. but they probably was at a very happy spot mentally back then, getting signed,getting record deal. seemed happy ,acted like clowns in interviews etc. sounds great, it can be done. and i also believe that many think st feels honest and true because they know that a lot of crap was going on in the band. had deftones said it was their best time in their personal life during that era,many would say that st felt fake. we get affected by what we know

I always liked the song itself but making it the single plus the video is shit, i mean, really?
Royal, CMND/CTRL, Prince?.... Hell even Risk would fit better...

I always suspected it would be, for the same reason as Sextape was released as a single.
Beauty School is 1 of 2 slick, polished, not too loud,  not offensive to the general public, middle of the road kind of songs that works great for mainstream radio and will hopefully get played a lot, attract attention to the band and hopefully get some new fans.
The only trouble is, it didn't work out that way for the mostly ignored Sextape (their lowest charting single up to this point off DE) and it won't work for Beauty School either.
Deftones will never appeal to that kind of audience, no matter how hard they try. Chino should have sold those songs to Jared Leto.
Sextape is actually quite nice and works well on the album but I've never been fond of Beauty School. For me it ruins the momentum and the mood of DE - I wish it were left off.
It just sounds too much like a conscious effort to be more mainstream (I like DE but would have liked it a whole lot more with BS replaced by a song that doesn't scream ''sell out'')
Deftones should forget about that, so many good bands have gone down that route in search of more fame and popularity and have become diluted versions of their former selves in an attempt to please the fickle, trend following masses.
Deftones is not a trend and need to forget about trying to become more mainstream and popular, it will only backfire.They should make the music they want to make and that the loyal fans they already have, have come to love.
By staying true to themselves they'll win over more fans than any other way.
Just look at Chris Cornell - sells out and releases Scream, produced by Timbaland in an attempt to win over the masses - fails horribly! - all that happens is that he loses some of his original fanbase
Then he reunites Soundgarden, releases Black Rain, tinged with metal like early Soundgarden and the record it's on goes multi platinum.
I hope that I am wrong, that I'm just being a bit cynical - I really hope BS wasn't the bands attempt at commercialism and a taste of what Deftones music will become.
This is the only Deftones song that has this feeling for me and probably the only Deftones song that comes close to being disliked by myself so I'm not particularly thrilled by the video.
The video in itself is fine but like Nineteen said, it's not difficult to see live footage on the net so it's not really something to get worked up about.
The footage is cool but it doesn't fit the song at all, so it seems a bit pointless. I always wished 'Prince' or 'Royal' were released as singles but they must have thought that they wouldn't snatch away any of Bieber's fans with those songs.
Chino's style doesn't seem to be as cool as it once was and I don't get why he kind of waves his hands around now, in hip hop style. He looks like he's trying to be 50 cent or the Game when he does that and it can sometimes look a bit weird, when he's singing CMND/CNTRL for instance.

the idea of releasing sextape and beauty school isn't any different than releasing change and digital bath as singles 11 years ago.it's the same plan and formuia as always and nothing new

Except Change and Digital Bath are both literally about a million times better than Beauty School and Sextape.

That being said, it's a midtempo, commercial friendly love ballad. No surprises here.

They are one of the biggest band in the universe and  they do nonsense offical videos.

This video sucks in so many ways.
Using high defination camcoders and lens doesnt mean you dont need to do anything else for a offical video.
The song and the video doesnt fit each other..This is a slow romantic melancholic song but they show chino  spit out, jump,laughing,joking,going crazy etc..
At least they could use Sextape and Beauty School shots for the video..

The assembly ,editing and  montage of the video is TERRIBLE..
The timing doesnt fit to rytms of the song..

The asian chick in the vid. Shes a super hardcore fan. Travels from japan to see them in u.s. Almost every tour. Very sweet girl.

Still not sure how some of yall can hate on this song.  Sure its radio friendly but its catchy as hell and retains the deftones feel.  Way better than cherry waves in my opinion.  Vid doesnt really fit the song, but the footage is gorgeous and captures some killer momemts onstage and off.

i totally think the two can be compared. for starters,they're both chino songs, but most imortantly: they've got decent verses, but the two both have
horrible, HORRIBLE chourues.it's like chino had an idea but didn't have a clue what to do with it.nor could anyone else do anything with it.
or wanted to, they were like "chino, you're on your own on this one, it's your lame song - YOU save it.it's not our fucking job or our fucking fault.
we're tired of cleaning up your mess" and this is what it ended up being. just some rapidly picked chords and a really bad melody to make it a song. and now it's a single because it's soft. that's also lame
