This album is honestly the perfect amalgam of their softer side and heaviness. It's a very diverse, heady and emotive album. This is the evolution of a group of guys who have learned to sublimate what they themselves want for the greater good of the music and the band. They're also maturing, so I highly doubt the Deftones will ever make an album as aggressive as Around the Fur or as dense as Self Titled.

Personally, this is a slow burn album. Some of these songs are amazing at first listen, but others will grow on you as time goes on. There is a ton of nuance in these songs and a lot to delve into. I'm very, very happy with.

As a whole, I loved the streamlined execution of Diamond Eyes. I think KNY gets a bad rap. Is it as experimental as most Deftones albums? No, but it does take what Diamond Eyes did well and expanded upon it, elaborating upon the approach on DE and opening up a bit. This album is basically opening up pandora's box in comparison. Such a great album.
