The morning started with the dawn's soft presence.
Cupid was drowsy, hardly woken yet,
When Venus spied him loitering about.
"O' boy, what's with the downcast attitude?
Why don't you go play in the wood? Why not
Go to the trails you like and enjoy yourself?"
"Yes, Mother, that I will! But do you think
I'll have fun?" he replied, and she assured,
"I like to say you will! You always do!"
The boy set out, out to the trails, and in
His wanderings, happened upon a hive
By the wayside. Compelled with thoughts of honey,
He took the honey from the hive, ran home
To give to Venus. But, he had agitated
The bees along the way, who pursued him home.
The boy ran to his mother, said to her,
"Mother, the bees, they are attacking me!"
She asked, abruptly, "O' What trickery
Have you now done?" Cupid replied, dismayed,
"I came to bring a gift. I happened by
A hive, and drew a swarm of bees, and now
They follow me! It's not right that these bees,
So light they are, would cause me so much grief!"
Venus answered him, calming his distress,
"O' Son, you must be wary of the fighters.
They're much like you, so slight in charm, and yet
Would soon inflict the wounds of love to many."

'Cupid, The Honey Thief' is much like a children's version of 'Venus and Adonis,' and I'm less sensitive to it! <3
I thoroughly enjoy having Cupid as an archetype, defined by the torch and arrow (passion and piercing,) as I can relate to sooooo much! <3
