Diamond Eyes - Thoughts + reviews

Diamond Eyes will (most likely) just add another awesome album to an absolutely original and amazing discography that just stands so well and most bands never even get the chance to make. There's always a filler album etc but Deftones, despite a few minor glitches here and there, have strayed away from that.

Not many bands can do that.

I'm just glad that I can recognise that and really, really appreciate a band I love and make my life that bit better.

I cannot, cannot fucking wait for this album. This is it. They're back on a White Pony scale.
a little early to say that though personally, i prefer self titled to white pony. (yeah, i know, blasphemy)

dai the flu is very much influensed byradiohead's "climbing up the walls"
I never noticed that before.  ;D
i also never noticed this for 2 songs i listen to very regularly.
I know man, Dai The Flu is maybe my favorite Defontes song.  And I can't begin to calculate how many times I've heard OK Computer.

MADNESS!

Prince obviously is the Myspace track we all thought was for eros. "digital bath-like", "treebly guitars".

Inkblades

Do you mean the song at the beginning of the Eros snippet videos? I think that song is on Eros.

so what did you prefer about ST, just as a matter on interest?

the big thick sounding guitars. i thought stephan stepped up his game here. also deathblow is one of my all time favorite deftones songs and to me the album had a more lush, romantic, moving feeling to it. it just appeals to me more as a listener. to me it was like they took the soft aspects of white pony that i loved and expanded on that and gave me something i'd never heard from them before but it still had the heavy kick you in the balls stuff. the end of bloody cape is a chino highlight for me and when girls telephone boys is just good ol' heavy as fuck. i just thought the production was a bit tighter and it showed me a side of deftones i connected with even more personally. but as i said the guitar sound on that album really did it for me. hexagram is just so fucking big sounding and i loved it and still do. don't get me wrong white pony is a phenomenal album but ST just one up'd it for me. i don't really expect anyone to agree with me. i will say white pony had more variety though. around the fur is still the top of my list though.

Fair. I do like the the thick sound Stef went for too. Personally, WP owns it for since the transition from ATF to WP is pretty damn impressive, and also for me the songs have a lot more substance... there are more filler tracks on ST for me in comparison to WP.

Each to their own though! ATF top though I agree!

yup, I guess it from the two descriptions we got. I know, It would be weird since they said eros was shelved...maybe they didn't shelve the entire album and a few tracks appeared. Might be wrong about this, but it sounds so obvious to me from the descriptions...deftones's word has never been that unbreakeable anyway, if you get what I mean.

Yeah, I love s/t man, it's a great album. I mean I feel as though this album could be on the same scale as White Pony both musically and commercially. I can see this maybe crossing over into the mainstream again here and there.

wu? thats wasnt trolling was it? i just humbly let him know that i wont put much weight in his opinion on such early stage because i dont know who he is because he is new.time may change that.jacob himself often says "your opinion doesnt matter anyway" and he is free to say so, thats not trolling, just opinions.which is pretty common on boards? i also used the most friendly smiley sl has to offer to show my kindess  :)

well, pretty much all I see from you are sarcastic and snide remarks towards people, and it gets very annoying. var lite trevligare helt enkelt.

Far away

I pretty much have the same opinion: I think S/T > SNW anytime. Even tho the band had bad stuff going on, on both records i still think S/T has a different vibe, something sad about it. But the songs are fucking good. We got classics from S/T (i'd include Hexagram, Bloody cape, Minerva, Good Morning Beautiful, Deathblow, WGTB) but i cant really say that about SNW. Other than the 1st version of Beware and Kimdracula im not a big fan of the record.

SNW, like we all know, they didnt have the good enviroment and i think they just wanted to get things done asap to release a new record.

ok that one just flew right above your head  :) kind of subtle i guess. but  it is not forbidden to use sarcasm, humour or talk patronizing when proving a point as long as u stay on topic and dont use it just of the purpose of being a dick. its just debate technique =) see, what i think it is,is that u use your moderator tag to get _your_ will across, trying to make it trolling or something else when it really isnt ,because YOU think im annoying but thats not yr job :)

deftones86

dick  its just mas-debateing technique =)
