Talk Talk - The Colour of Spring
1986
New Wave/Chamber Pop

I only first heard this album a couple months ago or so and quickly came to really enjoy and appreciate it.  I'm not really into new wave but I got into this band through their later more experimental albums and this album has a nice balance of new wave and more just pop/rock and it has some of the ambient stuff that they expanded upon greatly later.  I can quite enjoy most of this new wave.  One of the things that stuck out to me about this album is the way it was recorded/produced.  There's many different instruments used here but they are so clear and crisp and vibrant sounding.  It seems to come alive more than many records I've heard.  Also, it has great musicianship and there's so many little details and subtlety that makes it nice and interesting.  The acoustic and bass sounds really sound nice to me.  Mark Hollis, the singer, has a great voice and adds a lot of passion to the music.  Here's one of my favourite songs.  It has a fantastic solo in my opinion, between about 3:05 and 3:40.

Crazylegs

i bought this last week after seeing the talk talk thread. Not as good as Laughing stock and Spirit of Eden, but definitely worth a listen.

I don't think it's as good as LS and SOE either but it's nice spring/summer-time music I think.  I bought their last 3 albums but I don't think I'm interested in their first 2, not enough to buy anyway.  Their early stuff can be catchy though.  What's your favourite album by them Crazylegs?  Did you know Mark Hollis has a solo album as well?  It has some decent stuff on it but it's not near as good as Talk Talk in my opinion.
