Ahahaha I thought the same when he told me. The story still doesn't make much sense to me, but basically him and a friend were messing with swords and his arm got cut pretty bad. Then at the hospital, the doctor made it worse somehow by damaging some blood vessel and he needs an operation to fix a tendon in his arm... or something. Oh and he can't feel his thumb either but the rest of his hand/arm moves fine.
