This. I can't really say that this album is 2.0 of any album, or even largely influenced by any of their albums. I honestly feel like this is one of their most experimental-sounding albums. I know for most people it's White Pony, and White Pony is my favourite, but I wasn't a fan back then. I got into Deftones shortly after Chi's accident, so I'd already heard Adrenaline to Saturday Night Wrist, so they were already known to be a diverse band to me at that time. This is the first time for me that they've released an album and I've felt like it's unlike anything they've done before. It's an awesome feeling.

I'm sure opinions will change over time, but right now, the favourite track from everyone is overwhelmingly Rubicon. Funny, there's something about Geometric Headdress that I find so mesmerising, that might be my favourite at the moment, but Phantom Bride is growing on me a lot.

That's funny because when Doomed User released, I said "It sounds like Deftones covered some obscure indie-metal band" rather than writing a song of their own. This is the farthest they have deviated from their "core" sound but to amazing results!

I'm off to bed guys. If anyone finds the higher quality rip please shoot me a link. I really hope that CD rip is exactly that-a CD rip-so it gets all the attention and people do not hear the low quality vinyl one.

Final thoughts-I have not been this impressed with a Deftones album(or any album for that matter) on first listen since Glassjaw's W&T in 2002. Everyone has a fave Deftones album but all in all this just might be their best work yet objectively speaking. Just so, so good. And to think that a few hours ago I was worried this would be the first time Deftones disappointed me.........take care everyone. What a fucking day it was....

Guys, a site had a 102mb rip up and it said the source was a webrip/256kbps. So that one that claims cd-320 is highly likely transcoded from the 256 webrip. Just a heads up.. goin to bed now so i'll have to wait until I wake up to check the spectrals. But you all know damn well people transcode the shit out of anything to claim it's a better quality rip. So if something still sounds off, don't assume that's the final proper quality just yet.
