my ears bleed every time a song pops up on shuffle, production is a cruel joke

Kind of agree with both of the last two comments. I put it on today for the first time in a while and I'm still well into the musical direction but fuck me does the production let it down.

To be fair, ATF is straight up one of their best albums if not THE best

I wonder if we will ever hear "Crest". I remember reading about a track titled that, which they kept off the album because it "disrupted" the flow. Still very interested to hear this track that was supposed to open the album.

Whenever I come onto this forum I re-ask myself if I'm partially deaf because I never understand the issues about production that people have. Not even just Gore, but people's complaints about how the drums or mixed or whatever else. It's such a strange thing, I feel like I'm missing an important part of my ears. But on the plus side, it means that nothing detracts from my enjoyment of the music itself.

This is a great album.
I honestly loved it the moment I first heard it. I still don't get what the big deal is. Aside from " HUH DUUURRR MUH PRODUCTION " I have yet to hear any other legitimate criticisms of it.

swagmeout

I love Prayers/Triangles, but none of the other songs have really clicked so far.

If you really want to get pissed: play the Gore album and then throw in Needles and Pins (amazing mix and wall of sound).

Ears bleeding with the Gorezzzzz, ugh.

LG95

Did you really just respond to your own two year old post?

Do albums really grown on you, or do you know that you like them or not on the first listen? Lots of people say some albums or songs are "growers." But the album's production had a negative impact the sound sucked beyond words ...

I have had it go both ways. Kendrick Lamar's latest album, for instance, I gave away the day after the first listen. Didn't care for it at all. But like SNW was a grower for me and it is awesome. I really like the songs on Gore and IMO they are constructed a lot more intricately than the last two albums (DE was very simplistic I feel) but the tinniness and harshness of the production absolutely kills it for me and I don't care to listen anymore. If Gore was produced by Terry Date, I feel like it would have been their best album since S/T.

illthrowROCKS@U

The best albums are growers. All of my favorite bands and favorite albums and favorite songs I either didn't like as much, or even in some cases didn't like at all, at first. Most of the music that I love at first listen wears off over time.
9/26/10 - Patriot Center
5/22/11 - Sunset Cove Amphitheater
8/7/12 - Verizon Center
10/26/12 - Ram's Head Live
3/8/13 - House of Blues
10/8/13 - Baltimore Arena
7/31/15 - The Fillmore
8/8/15 - Susquehanna Bank Center
8/3/16 - Pier Six Pavillion
6/14/17 - MGM National Harbor
5/17/22 - The Anthem

Korea Rounding

Definitely one of the worst bands out there surprised they lasted this long. I would rank them 89th overall

I was reading through the Gore thread for nostagia's sake and I just had to stop to appreciate this burn.

So maybe this was asked before, but I followed very closely the release of this album, and I remember vividly Chino saying that the first version of this album had some pacing issues, and they ended up removing the first song and made Prayers/Triangle the first song and it finally clicked.

What happened to that song, and why didn't we hear it already as a bside?

Inkblades

That song was called Crest. It's in their vault.

Hoping for a B sides and rarities 2, first one is kinda disappointing leaving out Lovers, Teething, Boys Republic along with a multitude of others, instead in favour of some pretty naff acoustic versions if im honest
