actually, according to physics the universe is finite since the forces of gravity cause space to bend thus making the universe a giant shpere. and to quote gregg easterbrook, do you ever wonder if some of the "cosmic eruptions" we see (stars blowing up etc) are actually ancient advanced civil fighting a war in space thousands of (even millions) of years ago and we are just now seeing it? also, what if a alien civilization perfected near-light travel and decided to hurl a small pebble in our direction? At those speeds, a small pebble would be more powerful than the enitre worlds nuclear arsenal and thetre would be nothing we could do to stop it.

which begs the question of why we haven't increased our spending for preventing near earth asteroids from hitting us?

That is still just a theory. Nothing can ever be set in stone with the universe. Too large for us to relate... IMO

that theory doesn't really make sense to me since space isn't effected by gravity. there has to be mass to have a gravitational pull. space is just the nothing that stars and planets are floating in.

see, I get hit on by A LOT of gay guys.  Not like obnoxiously.  But they definitely feel me out.  But I still don't have a problem with the ladies for the most part.  So its all good.

the gravity is produced by all the stars and planets in the universe. the mass of them causes gravity to bend slightly and the net effect is a curve

i guess that makes sense. i just can't fathom an end to the universe. cause whats after that? its impossible for us to ever go that far out, but if it were possible what would be at the end?
