The difference in sound is negligible.

My personal reason for preferring vinyl is for the reason someone spoke of above.  They said they missed the feeling of buying a new CD and opening the wrapper, etc.  It's the process, the event, the act.

It's more "intimate," to me anyway, to open the record, feel the grooves, place the needle on the record, flip to the next side, to actually have to take CARE of the record.  I feel more involved, I feel more a part of the music, if that makes any sense.

It is also a great conversational piece, and nice for parties when you can have friends going through your collection to find some nice gems.  It always starts a conversation about this record or that record or this artist or that other thing or hey look that's a cool cover.

I'm also a big fan of listening to albums all the way through, not much of a shuffler.  I recognize this can be accomplished with digital audio as well, and of course I do have digital music.  I, of course, use an mp3 player in the car or when I'm out.  But when I'm home, it's vinyl.  I'll never buy a CD again, no need.

Not to mention I'm a fan of art of all kinds, audio and visual, and vinyl is great for people who love art in general for obvious reasons.  It's a mixture of audio art, the music, and the visual art of the album cover.  I've bought albums simply for their cover art before, only to later discover the music isn't half bad either.

Of course, I don't consider myself "better" than someone who doesn't buy vinyl.  I wouldn't make fun of anyone for not being into it.  If someone doesn't like it, then that's fine.  In fact I perfectly understand why someone wouldn't want to deal with vinyl.  Hell, it's more work (even though that's part of the reason why I like it, I can understand it being a deterrent).  So I wouldn't consider myself "pretentious" about it..  I only brought it up because someone mentioned they missed the feeling they got when opening a new CD for the first time.

That sounds pretty cool but also expensive.  I do like the large covers for vinyl albums.  That's probably my favorite part about them.  I've been tempted to get all of the Deftones albums on vinyl but I don't need another expensive hobby right now.
I'm only missing Diamond Eyes, Koi No Yokan, Covers, Palms and the 3 Crosses EPs on vinyl.

Most of the stuff I buy is fairly affordable..  Like around $20-$50 each.  The only expensive ones I have are Mars Volta records, a couple "rare" Marilyn Manson records, and some fairly expensive The Ocean records.  My prized posession is the original pressing of Deloused in the Comatorium on silver vinyl.  Everything else is really cheap, lots of ISIS, Incubus, Flaming Lips, Alice in Chains, Pink Floyd, Cult of Luna, letlive, Deafheaven, Minus the Bear, Foo fighters, Tool, Led Zeppelin, etc.  None of those were anything more than $50 a piece, and most much less than that.  All the Deftones records are really cheap, like 15-25 dollars except for covers which is around 60 or so.  I've got every Deftones/Chino side project on vinyl... except Team Sleep because that's not on vinyl, which makes me sad :(  I only started collecting about 6 years ago and I've got a couple hundred now.

It can get a little expense, especially once you factor in all the care products like cleaners and stuff, and all the things required to actually play the music like a decent turntable and some good speakers etc.  But it's very rewarding, and usually the records appreciate in value.  I bought a lot of my TMV records when they were much cheaper than they are now.

This article keeps saying "On the eve of Gore's release". Either this article got posted early or we might be looking at an official stream tomorrow.

We're not getting an official stream tomorrow. They're talking eve as in the album is very close to release.

I could wait a pair of weeks more. The hype is in a maximum level, but hey! these sensations of new music is only a few month each 4 years (and maybe this could be the last time, hope I'm wrong). I really enjoy the excitement and the conjectures of the moment, I read every interview, read every review, tryin' to catch a idea, and well, I will heard for first time entirely the debut day.

Eve primarily, at least in American English, is known as the day or evening before. You're probably right though. I hope they do a stream soon.

Really wish "Crest" wasn't taken off the album. http://www.theprp.com/2016/03/22/news/deftones-chino-moreno-speak-songs-didnt-make-cut-gore-late-summer-tour-planned/
I honestly am not a big fan of P/T. Id much rather have whatever Crest is. I honestly hope they release the other songs so we can "build our own Gore" as it was originally intended to be.

Well this is a load of rubbish. You don't know if you'd prefer Crest. It could be the worst song they've ever done.

The way it's supposed to be, it's the way the band tracked the album.
