So guys, what do we think will be the best songs played live? And what songs do you think WILL be played live? I hope to god they don't do another Koi No Yokan and leave so much of the album, a lot of the best songs, unplayed. I don't think they will though. I still remember Abe saying once the new album is out, they'll be playing new songs and switching up the setlist more, and I pray that that's true.

Haven't heard Hearts/Wires except for the intro, and they HAVE to play that live it sounds so good.

Would make a sick encore man. Great track

Another great encore track would be Phantom Bride

Penicks

definitely not a fan of the guitar solo in phantom bride, sounds very cheesy and would not be misplaced in an eighties porn movie

I think the riffs on this record are much more "colorfull" and original than on last 2 releases. I mean, DE and KNY were great, but sometimes, the Messhugah riff-style was getting a bit dull.

Moz

Hoooly shit rubicon.

That ending...

I'm... having problems with it

It completely violates the mood they have taken 40 minutes to set.

I mean, I like the idea, but when it comes in, I feel like I'm watching a Miller commercial in 1990

Yeah

Penicks

yeah, the songs definitely sound layered compared to previous two albums. guitars sound a bit generic at times, but way better than chugga chugga. just gotta accept that that trademark cruchiness is gone for good

gore is top tier, god damn what a song

Not gonna ask for a link or try to download, but can someone review the tracks: Hearts/Wires, Xenon, and LMIRL?

HW - very epic, melodic, powerful balladeering, Chino is everywhere

Xenon - catchy as all FUCK chorus, Abe doing some interesting stuff

LMIRL  - extremely intense, like a clenched fist that won't untighten, skating rink/mirror ball track, 70's sound (to me) heavy riffage

Judging by reviews, I'm very surprised about the media overblown "unhappiness" from Steph.  Gore is a crushing track, DU is heavy, and now hearing that LMIRL is very riff heavy.  I mean goddamn dude, this album sounds right up his alley

Pretty sure Steph is just a bit more dramatic than the rest of the band. He wants to be heavier, and he has the ability, but even his Sol Invicto work isn't "CRUSH BABIES" amazing metal.

Can anyone help a guy here and PM a nice link :)! Please? THANKS!

ANattyRat

The vocals (and the effect on the vocals) around 2:30 on Acid Hologram remind me a lot of MX when he says something like, "You make it so easy." Which is nice, I love that.

Crush babies amazing metal in my mind is something like Leviathan-10th sublevel of suicide, haha

Moz

Gore and rubicon are my faves.

What kind of fucking latin dance (samba? mambo? Merengue?) would one do to that insane-ass fucking beat at the end of Rubicon?

Why is it I am seeing some sort of freakish fucking Latin ballroom dance happening

I realize I probably look just like one of the noobs that joined the board just for this occasion, but I actually started posting here under the name lucidDesign back when Dredg was the opener in 2004, and after lurking this thread for 200 some odd pages I finally tried to login only to find out I no longer have the right password or my user name isn't active anymore, hell from what I can tell this seems like a new forum format since I last logged in (prob around SNW release). I also have 3 copies (me, wifey, and my drummer) on pre-order paid for and awaiting delivery, so I am not looking to mooch.  Just wanted to throw that out there in case anyone is feeling particularly giving this morning. I'd be forever grateful.

EDIT: I remember now why I joined this forum so many years ago; for a band falsely accused of having a fan base that is composed of a bunch of aggressive meatheads , the guys sure have created a community of love and positivity around this music.
