Giving away a release date isn't really that much though if the full reveal is coming in the next few hours. It's a tantalising clue I guess.

You might be right. To me, 0925 fits just well enough to seem like a major clue but not enough to give you anything else.

I'm not expecting a single today. Other than that, it's hard to tell. It might be that this is it for today and the band maybe post an announcement date on their socials?

I don't know, I have a feeling this is going to be the album reveal. You're redirected to this page no matter what address you put in, even just going to deftones.com takes you there. I doubt they would have this teaser up for a substantial amount of time where you can't access anything else on the site, you can't even go to purchase tickets for the upcoming tour. Plus the fact that this is the only accessible page on the website definitely points to this being some sort of big drop.

Indeed, as I said, every page redirects to that, that page is called 'Album artwork release', its URL is /0925 (Sept. 25) and has a hidden block with the dotted image on it. It's coming up today probably.

Feel like the dot image thing is it for today...maybe for a while, as sad as it seems. It's too cool and mysterious of an element to put out there for just a few hours and to immediately follow up with a single or teaser. I see it lasting a while...maybe changing/altering somehow.

(I will also admit to having done everything I can to this dot image. Inverted colors, reversing, doubling and folding, seeing if it is Morse Code etc. Currently trying to line it up with any constellations).

I meant average in the sense of casual. That is to say, the people who heard Change 20 years ago and have their songs pop up occasionally on their spotify probably aren't giving their site much traffic, let alone obsessively scouring the net for information on their new album. This is for the crazies like us who visit their sites regularly to purchase merch, tickets, and consume whatever else they're giving us. This is Deftones we're talking about, they're not some super famous pop artist that is consistently pulling in tons of traffic and interest from new fans. This is about riling up the small but rabid fanbase that they have.
