Quote from: Jerry_Curls on Apr 13, 2016, 07:40 PMTrust me, every show I go to I'm yelling shit like "wake the fuck up!" To the crowd, but it seems like everyone is more concerned with their photos than jumping around. Sad, but true.

Curious to hear why you are concerned with what other people are doing and feel the need to tell them what to do?

I'd still argue that he is usually too low in the mix except for some songs.

Diamond Eyes

that would be my cue to go get some drinks

Haha!  Yeah, that's my least favorite Deftones album, and not exactly my favorite song on it, to say the least...  But it is a hard ass riff to begin the show in that fashion.  Especially when you consider the dead silence the previous second.  It was a very funny moment.

Guess which song is really starting to grow on me now. Prayers/Triangles

Agreed. I'm having a P/T revival

Yet if you listened to almost any of their songs with his parts missing you would certainly notice the difference.  Frank adds the subtleties, which are part of what makes Deftones as great as they are.

I've just realised that Doomed User is the Gore version of Poltergeist / Rocket Skates / Rats rats rats / Hexagram / Korea / Rickets. Just one heavy ass track on every album. Except for Adrenaline where each song's that way.
I hate White Pony.

That I wouldn't argue. Without frank, deftones would not be as good. You really can hear his magic on the instrumental tracks, especially for Diamond Eyes, but I would understand if someone wouldn't notice his input on first listens.

krook

Will they release Gore instrumentals?
I hate White Pony.

Gore feels heavier to me.

To my mind, Gore the song is a Gore version of Goon Squad / CMND/CTRL / Rapture / Bloody Cape / Elite / Headup. Heavy but not heavy ass tracks.
I hate White Pony.

Yea,  I see it the same way: Doomed User / Poltergeist / Rocket Skates / Rapture / Hexagram / Korea are like siblings for me. WGTB / Elite are older brothers :D

By the same token every 5th track is the "ballad" position

Entombed, Beauty School, Mean aren't too much of a ballad either, so
I hate White Pony.

Reichward

Maybe ballad isn't the word but he's right when he means that tracks 5 have repeatedly been rather melodic songs since ST (maybe except Mein. (I often forget about this song)).

gwenudo

Track 8 has always been the darkest song in an album imo, with the exception of sextape.. Lucky you can be dark if you look at it that way...

I never looked at it that way. There are so many songs by deftones that are dark in different ways that I think "darkest" gets a bit subjective. "Heaviest" I can understand.
