I just think that yeah you are a fan,but you are not connected emotionally, its like you are not in this cosmic vibe that tool creates,i can understand that you don't consider the live cds full albums, understand that bothers you the fillers in the albums. but at-least,i am sure you are aware this things create the mystic of tool, the live cds with different meanings and lyrics like
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EgDwkSlCwHw
This is insane.
I really cant feel what you say..."they don't seem to want to get out of their comfort zone and mix up their style"
like i said they consistently make music that doesn't deviate from their core style, but doesn't sound exactly like the album before it.Tool maintains their unique sound while building on their style and producing music and lyrics that inspire and promote thought. i don't know what say. we both agree that they are really good artist, but we analyze in a different way... ;)

Yeah I love that version, Tool for me is like the modern equivalent of Pink Floyd and I would just like to see them fully immerse themselves in the music, I think if they dropped the winery and all that extra stuff they would be able to get together as a unit more, and with them all together left with nothing but the music to focus on I know they could make something truly amazing. I'm really looking forward to the new album, I think they may nail this one I know it'll be good but I'm worried about filler again, I don't mind them taking their time on it but when it takes 6 years it's hard to accept filler.

hahah you really hate fillers ;D. personally, i love them check this. (i don't consider this song a filler but many tool fans do)

Normal (you can listen only because its Tool the greatest band ever  :P)
Tool- Intension with lyrics
Reversed (But this is the point)
Tool Subliminal Message

you know its like "retarded shits" and "mites"...but is funny, you know,Charles Manson favorite track is the filler revolution 9 of Beatles
and when you hear reversed LOL

Revolution 9 Backmask (backwards) by The Beatles

I know that everything can be manipulated...but it's always fun (for me)... Like the fillers in Tool, i Know that have something behind, something special...anyway,we want another Tool album.Period.

Jane's Addiction - Then She Did {Live In Milan} 10-11-90 [HQ]

This is as real as it gets for me :)

Oh hell yes. A more real band you'll have to search for. Jane's Addiction will always do whatever the fuck they want to, and it's always pure emotion. Thank you for posting this video. This song will always make me fill me with sadness, but in a good way. The original title, "Then She Died...", says it all.

YES! I get really emotional over that song in-particular, such a pretty lovely beginning and then boom right into deep but atmospheric stuff! Perry to me is a true legend! They and Perry just do what they want and don't give a shit! Cannot wait for the new album this year. People weren't too impressed with The Great Escape Artist i think it was fantastic all the way through...but he said it will be completely different sounding! Janess all the wayyyyy

Holy shit, I hadn't heard there will be a new album! That's fantastic. I too loved The Great Escape Artist. Strays was good, but not nearly as good as the old classics. Artist was a whole new sound, but still hasda lot of classic Jane's in mood and atmosphere. Twisted Tales is probably one of my all-time favorite Jane's songs by now. Really curious in this new album!

I think Twisted Tales is one of my all time fave songs by anyone at the moment! Special special record i think!

And yeah Navarro and Perry said they had written about 80 songs or something for Artist, but just scrapped them all that weren't used, and they started writing for the new record late last year. Supposedly from certain sources its even at mastering stage. So could be out late autumn early winter :D

Oh and this right here is the real deal

That is awesome. I can hardly contain my excitement :D   80 songs sounds like a ridiculous amount. Knowing Jane's, at least half of those were fucking great too.

Zantera

Nothing's Shocking and Ritual De Lo Habitual are both amazing albums, and I love both. I really enjoyed the latest one (and Straws was OK I guess), but none of them were on par with the old stuff. I really wish the band would make more experimental and longer songs, my two favorite songs by them would be Three Days and Ted, Just Admit It, and both are pretty long and epic. The last two albums only really have songs in the 3-4 minute range.

Jacob

Yeah they have definitely taken a more (dare I say) pop-oriented route with the last two albums, and I can also miss the long epic stuff. But they've also always been great at making these short in-your-face rockers, and that's what they still do imo. Man, I want to see them live again. Saw them back when they re-united before Straws and once when on tour for straws. Such an amazing live band.

You two must both have the same predictive text or auto correct on for "Straws" instead of "Strays" lol!

I have never had the pleasure of seeing them live, i was supposed to at Reading/Leeds Fest 2 years ago, but about an hour before they were due to come on Dave announced it was cancelled due to Perry having a bad throat :( And there was no chance of me making a London gig as it sold out within a few hours!

Jacob

Haha, I must have mistyped that after reading Zantera's post. I know very well it's called Strays and I'm typing on my pc keyboard.

That's a shame, here's hoping they come to Europe again. First time I saw them was actually in London. Must've been around 2002. I crashed on some guy's couch I met at a Jane's Addiction forum. It was pretty epic.

I know dude! :)

That sounds ace!...Did they play anything off Strays? (Im guessing it was that tour?) because most of the time now its the first 2 albums with Just Because, Irresistible Force and End To The Lies thrown in the setlist :/

No no, this was before Strays. Well, they played Hypersonic (or an early version of it).

The setlist can be seen here: http://janesaddiction.org/tour/show/janes-addiction/2002-08-19/827/

Perry's mic went out for the whole first verse or so of Whores, and I was fucking pissed. My favorite song at the time and I couldn't believe when I finally got to see it performed in front of me I couldn't hear the vocals.

Second time I saw them, in 2003 in Stockholm, they had released Strays. Here's that setlist: http://janesaddiction.org/tour/show/janes-addiction/2003-10-22/921/

They've always been a bit lame when it comes to setlists, always playing the same old songs and rarely changing things up. But who cares, they're great songs.

Still look great gigs! Did you ever have the pleasure of seeing Porno For Pyros or Satellite Party? I saw Party at Download one year, so i've seen Perry live, just not Janes :/

Zantera

I was pretty tired when I wrote mine, but yeah.. Strays and not Straws obviously. :P

I really hope their next album has a mix of longer/experimental songs and shorter, but I feel like they have gone towards more shorter songs, and I somehow doubt they'll make more songs over 5-6 minutes.

Jacob

DJR, no haven't seen any of those but would have loved to see Porno For Pyros. I love their albums and they put on great live shows.

Btw, it looks like Jane's will also make a musical this year. Now that sounds interesting.

My bad!... I forgot to share what is arguably the most emotional performance ever done

A true loss to the world...easily over the likes of Cobain and co.

Jeff Buckley - Mojo Pin Live at Glastonbury 1995

Buckley... yes...

So amazing.
