Liar

I literally had to post that in order to get a link and in all honesty I don't know why that's really bothering me haha

i mean, not to dickride but i've only been looking seriously into the fandom side of things vs. being a casual and then obsessed listener earlier this year (i was a casual listener from 2023 onward) and what little mentions of you i did find from more recent times on both here and the sub made it clear you were a pretty major, hardcore archivist.

archiving is good work, especially nowadays where shit can be wiped off of the internet startlingly easily by a corporation if they so much as snap their fingers. speaking of which...do you have the scuzz interview with chino and abe? i tried DMing this guy who might've had it but nothing :-[ might be lost media atp
i hope she comes

Hands down my favorite record since Chi has passed. My heart was racing for most of it. I cannot believe how much I just enjoyed that!

Goddamn, I love this band so much. But I really have not loved the last two records. I'm so happy that this one was so much more solid. Good for them. Even if this is the last Deftones record, I just enjoyed the shit out of that. And I'm happy I got to experience that musical joy that only my favorite band can give!

I just meant that I hardly believed that you didn't get a link yet that was all.

transcription's gonna take a minute due to the mixing, but i REALLY like how the mixing sounds on these. particularly, ecdysis gave me "oblivion" from grimes vibes of all things (?!?!?) and i really fuck with infinite source's riff and mixing.

Holy shit, I hear Oblivion now in the beginning! Great ear!

i thought i was gonna be giving a bit of a hot take. relieved someone else hears it 😅

Like M83 oblivion vibes? If so, I'm pretty sure they did the soundtrack to that movie or at least the main intro outro.

...not quite. i meant grimes' oblivion -- the intro is similarly very techy and bouncy and odd in a very entrancing way.
i hope she comes

It's only been a few hours, but it's so good. Full of surprises but cohesive and such an *album* in the truest sense. Deftones are so fucking back.

Fuuuck!!!! Me!!!!

I've actually respected your opinion over the years and that makes me so excited to hear it. Good for you man put another post up in the next few days or more. I'll be watching everything because it's good discipline for me right now and I'm quitting alcohol at the same time which is crazy.

I love every single song on here with the exception of the singles lol. I like the singles - they're not transcendent tho.

I'll be listening when it drops midnight 22nd

Infinite Source has such an older deftones vibe to it. The chorus friggin' soars, and can see it being a single.

I'd say this is almost a "best of" album by Deftones. You can hear parts of their entire discography on here. It's incredible and mainly upbeat - not much slower stuff on here. cXz's verse riff sounds like part of the When Girls Telephone Boys riff. I Think About You is another Sextape. Cut Hands is part Hexagram, part something else throwback.

Stef really brought it with his dissonant, yet upbeat chords. Abe is a groove machine. Fred fits like a glove and I especially love his work on #3 and Milk. Frank continues to create interesting layers. Chino's keeping it varied, spicing things up with unexpected vocal styles and still ripping some gnarly screams he has no business doing at his age.

Okay, no more listening until release now.

This album sounds like what I always imagined in my head Eros would sound like. Anyone else?

God, I love this album. Best since SNW.

Completely agree with this. There are sprinkles of everything on this album, which is coming in after every listen. New Chevelle album does the same thing, so this is just so refreshing getting all of this new music, this year.

The sound effects in Departing the Body, are making my soul depart my body. There is just something about it, man.

Fuck yes. I'm at the same time trying to practice discipline with a couple things. And I'm not doing this because of that other thing. It's because I've never done it with this band. Not 100% anyways.

Infinite source gives me some Morrisey vibes.
