Quote from: DefFsho on Aug 19, 2025, 01:34 AMI will happily be one of if not the only one on this forum to listen to this record officially when it comes to me in the best format it can. I hope you all enjoy because we all share a very cool thing. I'll be back to discuss the record with everybody good night God bless

You are definetely not the only one.

Fuck yes. I'm at the same time trying to practice discipline with a couple things. And I'm not doing this because of that other thing. It's because I've never done it with this band. Not 100% anyways.

I've listened to leaks before. I did with SNW and a couple more records. Not like they ruined the experience for me. This time tho, I just decided to hear it laying down on my couch with headphones on. Nothing more. Im glad to read so many positive 1st impressions. IDK if this is the adrenaline kicking in for new Deftone stuff or not but it doesnt matter.

Hang on, brother.

That is exactly what I'm going to do. Eat a gummy or two while the family is in Gatlinburg for 2 1/2 days which is perfect. All I have to remember is to take my dogs out and feed them which is really crazy. It's just a perfect timing. I have a full family schedule usually this just worked out perfect. Last time I had a gummy was probably three or four months  : D ago. That's why I'm holding out probably.

my first listen's been sober. on either wednesday or friday (i feel like i'll know which is the right time day of) i'll give it a listen with the zaza modifer.

Yeah now!!

Would you compare it at all to What Happened to You? I always thought that was a hauntingly beautiful song.

Goddamn, I love this band so much. But I really have not loved the last two records. I'm so happy that this one was so much more solid. Good for them. Even if this is the last Deftones record, I just enjoyed the shit out of that. And I'm happy I got to experience that musical joy that only my favorite band can give!

Hey bro, that is awesome you are trying to quit alcohol. Not that drinking is bad. I love getting wasted (old lady just doesn't let me except a few times a year lol). Just proud of you for trying to quit something that is difficult to kick. Best of luck going forward, and I CAN NOT WAIT to see what you think of the album later this week!

I've actually respected your opinion over the years and that makes me so excited to hear it. Good for you man put another post up in the next few days or more. I'll be watching everything because it's good discipline for me right now and I'm quitting alcohol at the same time which is crazy.
Throw your faith in me. I'll take you some place brand new....

Milk Of The Madonna hits like a sledgehammer after I Think About You All The Time.

It's a whole different beast.

No, Departing is massive.  One of their best tracks ever.

It is darker, and massive like everyone else is saying. However, I do agree that WHTY has a haunting vibe to it with that bassline!

Souvenir, departing, I think about you all the time, ecdysis, and cut hands are best tracks

phil for real

Beginning of departing sounds like a mars Volta intro

I was NOT expecting a panic chord breakdown in Cut Hands, by the way.

Thanks bro. I appreciate that. Yeah once again the last two records something was just missing for me. I think mainly with Stephen and Chino. Abe always shines IMO. But this one really felt different to me. Definitely my favorite record in a long time. It's definitely a combination of all of their previous records into one with a new fresh and experimental take on all of it. Some killer groove and killer tempo changes and the last 10 minutes is the record is just 10/10.

I really feel like this record will get some solid reviews and the music world will really enjoy it. I'm excited for them. They deserve it. Sober Chino killed it this time. I'm sober myself so I'm really happy for him. I know how hard it is. There's a freshness in his voice this time.

So I loved the Chi supposed references on diamond eyes and I loved a few tracks off of Koi and just a couple off of Gore and I hardly listen to ohms anymore. Before that, I still listen to those records straight through. Call me the guy that wants them to re-create something, but that's not it. I love them so much Still! and i still Listen to all the records, but just want some kind of cohesion and give a fuck. I love Deftones. It's so hard to explain what it is. I think obviously it's those past records Bring me back to those good times in my early days that I will never go back to But milk of the Madonna hinted at that so it told me we could go there.

Whether you know it or not,  y'all's opinions on here matter the most to me out of any reviews out there in the world for this band. What y'all think is what matters to me for the almost couple past decades. I hope you all enjoy it and continue to enjoy it, but I hope it (private music) gets better like those early records did. when white pony and self titled dropped and especially Saturday night wrist all three of those records had to grow on me and they took a month or several months or maybe even half a year I can't remember. But those are the records you're always fishing for if you grow up with them. I hope you all have the same experience with THIS record and myself as well along with you.
