I would put money on it that we get the name Lazarus somewhere in this record. Jesus resurrected him. He died and was reborn. Yeah that's all I have on that lol but I just get this feeling looking at the parallels between the two artists and the whole "serpent eating itself". Call it what you want...im just trying to throw something interesting out there other than "where is the album?" Lol somebody's gotta be that guy. I'm stoked as all getout just like y'all! anybody have any opinions on this or thoughts? Is anybody familiar? I don't particularly listen to the last David Bowie record, but he's been a part of my life my whole life and throughout my parents life. And when I seen that first post/picture of the snake eating its tail that's where I went in my head
 

i wasn't going to make an account, but fuck it, i can't lurk anymore. i've been thinking way too much about this and there's basically no place to theorize on stuff like this outside of here.

the private music deftones logo is a snake tongue. snakes are THE equilibrium animal -- they represent both masculine and feminine energies/symbolism through the tail and head. they represent life and are associated with birth due to how many eggs a snake typically lays and how devoted snake mothers are to incubating their broods.

as you said, ouroboros ("snake swallowing its tail") represents the cycle of life and death, but also rebirth and by extension immortality through the continuous cycle of death leading to life leading to death etc. they also represent the world at large by essentially acting as its container or barrier in multiple cultures' legends of how the world is built/works (think jormungandr in norse mythos, shesha in hinduism, or quetzalcoatl in aztec mythos). they ultimately represent a source of everything we know of, which i think ties into the tracks "infinite source" and "departing the body" based off of the titles.

abe also hinted at the snake theme months before private music was officially name dropped if you look at his bass drum in shows from the beginning of this year. i find it hard to believe someone didn't mention that in here by now, but i only started to check the thread consistent around page 120 so if that is the case i probably missed it.

I think I didn't think of it because I have a shirt and hat from long days past of a cobra with Deftones name on them. I believe I bought right from their official store. Lo hard to say because I've bought many things from there and from abroad over many years, they've used the cobra before. I feel like it was last year or the year before, but the hat doesn't fit like I want it to and the T-shirt shrunk right away, which is why I don't buy their merch anymore unless I can physically try it out at a show which I've only been at once and the last five years or six years probably But the cobra has been around. I feel even way before that.

ah, that makes sense. i became a fan at the end of 2022 after hearing the more popular songs through edits on the clock app and from there i decided to very slowly get into things. when i was a kid -- around 13ish -- i got heavy into nirvana and queen, but after a year i burnt myself out bad on their music because i was only listening to it and nothing else. i really wanted to avoid that this time and i thankfully have been so far!

when it comes to merch, i'd probably fit comfortably in a medium or large but i tend to go for extra large just to be safe if it shrinks in the wash. i try not to wash anything on warm or hot water, especially graphic tees, and i also try to wash them inside out in case the printing material's getting old since it'll start wearing out/cracking more. i've mainly been buying secondhand from depop, though i did get my first shirt from spencer's since i wanted a nirvana shirt from there and they had one of those "buy one and you pay 3 cents less for the other one" type deals. so far i have ATF, gore, and self-titled...not sure which album i want to get next or if i want a concert footage t-shirt like my kurt tank. i also ordered the private music t-shirts from the website so that'll come when it comes.
