Far away

I listened to Melanie bc we had a live version laying around for a long ass time... I remember thinking back then it was a banger. Even tho this version is unfinished... yup, still a fucking banger.

Quote from: DefFsho on Jun 25, 2026, 07:58 PMThis is probably the biggest thing to ever happen on this forum. There's still a few names lurking around this place that I remember from those 2007 2008 days when they were dropping those I think weekly clips in the studio making this record. That one evil sounding jam that Chi and Steph were working on, I wish made this record. Also was really hoping to hear what Frank's work on that clip where he's playing that really weird synth electronic sound turned out to be, but it didn't make the cut. Would've been a sweet intro. But of course they've done 1 million things We've never heard that would b great to hear and see...Just like anything else. I'm surprised that a few of those older members haven't reacted to this yet to be honest. Who's the guy who had the little thumbnail picture of a stick man pissing in a dirty toilet? He was a dick but hilarious !!!  I'm glad I got to hear it, but I do get that it sucks in a way, but art is made to share. It wasn't shared correctly. But it was shared, and we are all enjoying it don't lie.
Many many old names have come back.  Penicks, Pixelsblur, Far Away, etc. - many from the earliest 2004 days.

Regarding the "evil" riff, if we're thinking of the same clip, then that would be Trempest.

Edit: referring to this clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-hywI1emDHk

Edit 2: you're prob referring to this clip, i agree it does not appear to be in the leak: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Rn_OT-Jh4Y
That other Clip (Clip 4) seems to be just another variation of Trempest

Same here.
I've woke up the last past days with any of thesongs running thorugh my head.

Also I am feeling this is the missing link we've waiting to hear, to see how they've evolved their sound between SNW and DE. Also, some ideas I'm sure could have evolved into different new songs, not that this tune morphed into that one, but some ideas, some riffs.

the synth that frank plays in one of those clips reminds me a lot of the outro of pittura infamante/intro to xenon. not the same rhythm but the sound of the synth itself
Totally fits with what I am pointing, some ideas might have evolved on new songs for the upcoming albums

I wanted to say I appreciate all of us gathering here every time sometimes significant in the deftones world happen;

As a kid I spent a lot of time here talking to you guys, having a laugh & discovering music among other things. Even tough I'm a grown man now and only enter a few times a year, I love having Sharing Lungs & DW as a constant in our lives. Much love to you all.
I love how you never changed your profile pic again  ;D

Good to see that there are still many known ppl here, and there will be while Deftones lasts.
Couldn't join before, around the PM cycle, because I couldn't login/recover my account, but finally here I am to see what else was happening around the leak.

I got it shared via WhatsApp, and sound is pretty decent but, since it's just mp3, I'd love to see if there is any remaster in the works.

And of course, if Deftones ever decides to release it as I expected to happen sometime in the future, I'll be glad to get a copy, just as I just got my 5 variants between CD/vinly/tape from PM.

Who is listening to these demos more than Private Music?

So far, I am warming up to the demos and like the Bob Ezrin ones, who knows what final songs were going to end up without any demos recorded?

So dope. I put it up there in my top 10.... It's classic elite Deftones material. that one could sit on adrenaline or around the fur and fit

Electra stands out
Electra is great just the way it is. If that's what you mean... this version sounds perfect on a good sound system. If you've got a nice clear crisp loud sound system in your vehicle. It is the best way to hear it I have found.
I listened to it once on My Daughter's beats headphones and it wasn't anything compared to my Harman Kardon  speakers in the truck. I like the punk influences I hear on this album as in Electra. So ATF. Abe's drums punch right through it just perfectly and I think his drums were recorded just right on this record. I have also found that at least six for sure but maybe eight songs on here we're already ready to be mastered. I think there are 6 to 8 complete songs here that there was no reason to tamper with ...so I can't remember how far along they claimed to be, but I think they said the music was pretty much finished and the vocals were halfway. I think they were right about the music part but I think Chino was more than 50% done if there's six or eight complete songs in my opinion. Anyone else have a take on that? Obviously, we don't know their thoughts and what songs they might scrap or manipulate later. What do you think about that comparison of what they said to what you hear?

DefFsho

I have a very interesting question over in the bullshit thread. It's got nothing to do w Eros, just wanted to get some attention on it because it's something I'd really like to know and maybe others would like to know. Thanks🙂

Formant

It's cool to hear Chino's vocals on top of certain riffs. Some parts of Electra and Trempest would fit right in to KNY, but he had a totally different approach to them here-- more experimental and wild, especially Electra. As if he hadn't found the winning formula to match Steph's 8 string yet.

He also brought some Team Sleep into this. Margot is a type of song they'd never make post-DE, imo, and it reminds me a lot of Blvd. Nights.

I think it's just a case of my ears getting used to it. Now, certain parts like the feedback intro to Briana (which gives me the vibe it was a placeholder for something else) or the hot mic at the end of Margot are part of the experience.

I wonder how much Frank would've added with interludes, transitions and whatnot for the hypothetical final product, though.

"Nocturne" from youtube just posted an Eros video a cpl hrs ago. I haven't watched it yet, but the guy does pretty good work.

DefFsho

In the video, he shows Chino quoted as we seen back in the day as saying six songs were finished. I nailed it. I thought six were finished, but maybe eight because the other two I wasn't completely sure about bc something was missing.

Do you think Cindy and Asia were scrapped for other strippers?😆 maybe there's a tiny chance there's a couple other songs or ideas recorded out there? Probably not. Those two strippers were probably renamed.

Spruance

Are all the other versions of "Brenda" and "Destiny" etc alternate vocal takes?

DefFsho

Holy shit! Unless I'm in the tallgrass here on this information because I don't visit here as much as I used to, wat h NOCTURNE'S video on YouTube. It was released today. He's got some messages going back-and-forth between buyers and sellers on this and it gets nasty also. It's the first I've seen it. I've been hearing about it, but he posted it in the video. This shit is wild. I'm still watching by the way.
It looks like the original buyer and seller going back-and-forth and the buyer gets a stern warning. People I've never heard of

Its not even bc its heavy, I like their heavy shit, its just so visceral. Also, loved the outro.
