It's like this everywhere right now. Album finally leaks and instead of discussing the material everyone is trying to deduce how it leaked or arguing the ethics of listening vs not listening.

100%. It hasn't changed since I joined.

My thoughts on the music are that it could have been an incredible work for them, had the accident not happened. The songs have amazing potential and you can see them branching out to new ideas in the collection of songs yet still having the last really dark, sinister screams from Chino (and overall musically). Melanie I knew would be a banger when I first heard it live. Trempest could have been a beast of a song, I knew that when I heard the guitar riff in the Eros clips (clip 3 I believe), and my god is Diamond a fucking JAM. Those three songs would have been massive fan favorites. Destiny and Smile would have likely been singles imho.

The leak happened, can't change it. These songs are now forever a part of deftones lore whether official or not, might as well listen to them now rather than later.

That said, and I know the thread said its not allowed, but here is the original cut of Trempest that was posted back in the day. There's an additional 30 second bridge on this version that's missing from the leak. Haven't seen it posted in years so figure its about time it gets shared again.

Also, I had a feeling from the old studio footage that Steph was playing in Self-Titled Tuning, adding a low Eb for the 8 string.

Meaning he tuned up to standard tuning for Diamond Eyes.

Interesting choice, I wonder why he did that and didn't keep Eros tuning. That low Eb is brutal on Trempest.

It's not about charity, it's about doing the right thing. They clearly do not want this material out and everyone knows it. What sort of a fan would spit in the face of that, especially knowing the circumstances around the album?

chino doesn't want the material out, and i respect that given the circumstances. however, i wouldn't say that's true of every member. i haven't and will likely never listen to eros. i think it's a damn shame how it made it to the internet and i got a bad vibe from that guy the second i noticed him on here.

if the forum decides on a charity to donate to in cheng's name, i'd happily donate. like B_S_79 said,

The Reddit group didn't take kindly to my suggestion. I donated to UC Davis Children's Hospital in the name of the band and Chi..  the same charity the band ran a charity drive for back during Ohms. "Adopt a Dot" from the Ohms album cover.

Got accused of virtue signaling and was told to do my research before donating and I was an idiot for choosing the children's hospital.

Yet everyone is quick to virtue signal while accusing you of the same. Hypocrisy oozes there. Here you are offering a very noble compromise for middle ground on the morality side. Plenty of people here will throw down whether they listen to Eros or not just 'cause its the thing to do to rectify considering our hands are tied in this situation 'irregardless!' Brianna it is soooooo gooooood lossless! However, I do agree with others that have said Diamond would have been an amazing closer and I am heavily considering changing the track order to reflect it

Honestly, to me? The album was basically ready for release, despite what any of the guys have said in the past; the only song that actually sounded unfinished was Candy (due to the minor guitar presence), and even then, it's still good as is. If this debacle ends up inspiring the guys to officially release it at some point, it wouldn't take much to shine it up even further.

Yeah it doesn't sound like he's been clued in to what has actually come out and is misremembering or blurring it together with other leaks, though to be fair they are sessions from 20 years ago that he possibly hasnt looked at since then, if I were in his position I probably wouldn't even remember any details about the songs or how many there were.
