So, since 'a lot of people' don't sew their own clothes, therefore purchasing them from department stores, or catalogs, or the internet (any of which items they may have seen on a friend, or a magazine, or an artist, or a celebrity or none of the above), all of which items were clearly designed by someone that wasn't the person purchasing them, I guess 'a lot of people' don't have personalities?

Most image-conscious human beings on the planet Earth get their style (or have at one point in their lives) ideas from someone else.  You, me, and (gasp) even the infalliible Mr. Moreno.  There's nothing wrong with it.  There's even a booming business for it.  It's called advertising.

i think it has more to do with individuality than personality    unless youre trying to adopt the personality of someone else which i think a lot of ppl do consciously  or not..   or feel like or want to belong to a certain part of a group...   through what you wear, makeup, facial hair, jewelry, ink, etc.   look at tribes or gangs even   they identify themselves with a lot of wearing the same things or things,  looking the same, and adorning themselves similarly with the same stuff   one could argue that by being a deftones fan it makes sense to try to look like someone from the band as its a way to connect   make sense or too deep?

*on a side note, i proudly sew and make ALL of my own clothes  currently perfecting my millinery skills to make a wellington
