Biggest thing I've done is put Briana between Dallas and Margot (inspired by the Caliban mix sent earlier). I feel like everything flows great, even before doing that; but Diamond is the optimal closing track.

Imagining it like a vinyl record, Briana would close the a-side, with Margot beginning the b-side.

I'm glad that little adjustment to the sequencing worked for you. I've played around with "Electra" in different spots, as well, but I just keep coming back to the original tracklist that leaked, only with "Brianna" between "Dallas" and "Margot."

NOTE: If I already sent you my remix/master, revisit and redownload the link you were initially sent by me. I updated the .zip to a v2 designation.

In v2, I made a few changes to restore some dynamics to Chino's vocals across a few tracks, as well as a few other small mixing adjustments (Frank and Abe in "Candy", for example). But the big change was in the mastering. My original remix was mastered to approx. -12 LUFS, which is roughly where the original demos were sitting. That created a fairly dynamic listening experience, because loudness wasn't the goal. But I heard back from a few of you that you thought the listening experience was too quiet on my mix, so I mastered v2 to approx. -9 LUFS, which is somewhere around what you'd experience from 'Saturday Night Wrist' or 'Diamond Eyes'. It squashes some of the dynamism of the original mastering job, but it definitely is a better, more consistent listen next to other Deftones albums. I also updated the album art, inspired by the "Ohms" music video.
I messaged you about it and you didn't respond, :/

My apologies, friend. I did receive quite a few requests, so I must have missed it! Anyway, I just PMed you.

I've just done a Chi OverEnhanced mix version of the record, in case anybody feels like DM'ing me

It's not focused on being a great listening experience at all, but it overenhances and makes Chi's contributions quite obvious.

Quote from: DefFsho on Jul 01, 2026, 12:28 AMAnybody have any ideas why the version of smile that Chino gave us sounds so much more compressed or why the Eros leaked version sounds better? Maybe there was multiple recordings or whatever but for them to not go back in there and work on anything I just wonder.

My guess is he has likely made so many songs with so many different takes and different mixes throughout his 30+ year career that he just forgot about this version. The one he leaked was maybe the first one he found in his files, quick listen, "that works", upload.
