My g/f got that entertainment weekly the other day... found it funny... although I still love the song, I found it funny that their recommended download was Pink Cellphone.

SNW  PLAYBOY Review!!!!!

A mix of metal chug and My Bloody Valentine atmospherics helped the Deftones transcend a musical movement filled with "Nookie" heads. Here the band returns to the experimental brilliance of White Pony, blending power-chord blasts woth a soft melodies. There's no other band like this on the planet.  4 out of five bunnies!!!

Once again the Blend TV interview in Berlin (18.10.06).
I've made the video smaller and splitted it into 4 rar-files for an easier upload.
I couldn't find an appropriate codec, so there are some interlace-errors. sry for that!

visions 11/06 [german] : chino / steph and chi

most important things :

- two separated interviews: steph and chi and afterwards chino
steph : "Why I don`t give interviews with chino anymore ? because i always wonder about the crap he is telling."
- they started writing SNW in early 2004
- chino : "I had sung over every song but i didn`t satisfy with the material. I´m the only singer in the band so nobody could understand me...."
- around the fur is chinos favourite record
- chi about chino : "this love - hate is our strong and our weak point"
----> they are building a studio for being able to record while being on tour. chino : "we are not free to take such a long time again for releasing an album"

PS: sorry for my english , i hope i could help you with the translating  ;)

the whole interview is about the chino thing/problem. there`s not that much new besides the stuff i`ve already mentioned.

but if anybody want to translate the whole thing: have fun !  :D

edit : and the sentence on the bandphoto page mean--> chi : "if chino wouldn`t been so talented he would not exist in the band anymore"

Deftones-argentina

I loved the part of the mobile studio :) Thanks!

Subliminal

Some cool shots there too, Thanks for that one!

Alvar

official alvar review:

(this is my first review ever wohooo)

Hole In The Earth
seems like this song was, like "change", created to be the
first single for this album. its got an easy melody and forces
you to sing along, the only hard part of this song is one
guitar riff. when i heard this song first on their myspace, i
thought it was quite good, but by now i dont listen to it very
much. its one of those songs that quickly get boring because
there somehow is nothing special in it, well, just my opinion,
u know....
rating: 2/5

Rapture
so after falling alseep listening to HITE, this song wakes you up
fast. the drum intro and the drums over the whole song are just
so perfect... stephs guitar is the shit and somehow franks strange
keyboards add a strange industrial feeling to this great song.
chino is screaming all over the song and that is just how its got to
be. my favourite song of this record,
rating: 5/5

beware
well, since the last 3 albums (SNW included) deftones have flooded
their song-inventory with much slow, ballad-like songs. beware is
another one of those, but this is much darker and different than further
ones. a dark melody with deep keyboard songs and slow guitar riffs...
i think this is the heaviest ballad i ever heard. the melody is quite easy,
chinos voice is perfect and the last part of the song is just a great outro.
well, i dont skip this song yet (i downloaded it after hearing it on rock am
ring and was listening to it since)so i guess i like it :)
rating: 3/5

cherry waves
the first time i heard this song i was blown away. in the last few years chino
really improved to write melodic, slow songs, and this is just the best one he
has done so far. it mixes up all the experiences he made with deftones and
team sleep and ends up in perfection. there is nothing more to say about it,
you really have to listen to it to be taken away and feel it.
rating: 5/5

mein
this song is upbeat with a very strange but nice melody and again you are forced
to sing along with chino after listening to this song a few times. except for the
great drumming there is nothing instrumental special in this song and in my opinion
serj`s appereance is way to short and goes a little bit under. however his singing
fits to the feeling that this song creates and so im not disappointed much.
rating: 3/5

"konami code"
i didnt know what i should expect from this song so i let myself surprise while hearing
it the first time and was amazed. the melody is way more intense than on any other deftones song. its a nice song to chill to and reminds me of some instrumental passages
of bands like Isis or Tool, that i like alot. that chinos voice doesnt appear on this song
doesnt make it any worser, this is a very nice piece of music.
rating: 4/5

xerces
after so many melodic and light songs i really expected some heavier stuff, but xerces
again is a ballad. there even is not much guitars on this song, most parts are, like many
times on this album, keyboards, but this time there is again nothing special for me in this
song. the chorus is fine and played live i could imagine this song really to grow on me,
but by now i dont like it very much, i think its one of the weakest tracks on SNW.
rating: 2/5

r!r!r!
finally the destruction arrives. some quick, loud guitar riffs introduce you into a long
screaming passage of chino to fast beats and a killah-steph-guitar, that reminds me
a bit of "rickets". even some short melodic passages cant take away any o nthe heaviness
of this song. i specially love the structure and the sepultura-like break of this song,
thats the kind of music deftones should have putted more on this album.
rating: 5/5

pcp
you can say whatever you want, i love the beats, the melody and the nonsenseness
of this song. it perfectly fits to the album concept, the layout and the deftones style
and the outro on the explict version is just so damn crazy...
this song takes you away from all these guitar riffs and keyboard sounds to another
spectrum of deftones-style. its just another example for their wide spreaded variety.
rating: 5/5 (yeah, i gave it fuckin 5/5)

combat
again one of my favourite tracks on this album. the chorus of this song is a great
combination of screaming and rapping and a nice mixture of easy, melodic parts
and harder, heavy style, a bit like HITE, only that this time even chino is getting
more aggressive too, a great mixture of the two main styles of this album.
rating: again 5/5

kimdracula
im not into this song quite much. the melody is easy again and chinos voice sounds
nicely, what i like about it though is that the guitars even do appear all over the song
and the riff is played nicely. but all in all sadly i cant find the special point of this song,
there is no passage that amazed me so far and so its quite weak compared to other
songs of this album.
rating: 3/5

riviere
most people say that this is the perfect outro fot this album and: its true.
when you listen to the album from the beginning to the end you really enjoy
this song, but somehow as a "stand-alone" track it again has nothing special
there for me. there are quiet songs on SNW that i enjoy much more than this
and so i think this song is another going-under-track from this album.
i know many people like it but i like other songs much more
rating: 2/5

like i said b4, this album needs some more heaviness (yea im into the loud stuff),
but im still fine with half of the album and all in all its a great piece of music. its not
my favourite album but its better that s/t and even feels fresher and more innovative,
for me, than WP, so im gonna listen to it for a long time for sure and maybe it will grow
more on me.

SNW rating: 4/5 (not perfect, but very good)

The streets have gone dark. They've been dark for days. We board up the house. Hide upstairs and wait!

I loved the part of the mobile studio :) Thanks!
haha, the guys are so lazy that i'm sure they'll be fuckin' around in that moile studio! i really can't understand why bands have to make a record every 1-2 years for the sake of it.
