That means seven more years of Deftones. 1988-2023. So, 2-3 more albums?

I bet he doesn't quit at 50 though, mostly because the touring money is probably too good.

I'm quite sure it's less about money and more about whether or not it's worth it. He loves music and loves making music, but trying to balance out family life and touring is probably a big factor. I mean, maybe when he hits 50 he'll decide he's still got the energy to keep going for another ten years.

Lol @ Sergio's face that entire interview

Also of note, Chino says he'd like to play in Deftones till he's 50. Hmm

Oh lord.. I think he meant that he hopes he gets to keep playing music until he feels he doesn't need to or want to any more. Nothing to do with being 50 exactly. He just said a number for the fuck of it.

Here's the bit on Deftones, quite a positive review on their set at Chicago's Riot Fest.

"Are you ready for the motherfucking Misfits?" Chino Moreno asked the raving crowd a few songs into the Deftones' mighty set at the Riot stage Sunday evening. The Sacramento band could hardly be called benchwarmers, though, ripping through a set of both old material, particularly from Around the Fur, and newer songs from Gore and Koi no Yokan. Moreno was relentless, bounding and leaping from end to end of the stage. Anchored by his bandmates — particularly, rock-solid guitarist Stephen Carpenter and bassist Sergio Vega — Moreno was free to scream straight into the crowd at one moment and stand atop an amp like a messiah the next. He paid tribute to both Glenn Danzig and Morrissey, acknowledging the oddness of that combination: "That might be corrupt and wrong, but those motherfuckers made me wanna sing. I love them both equally." In this writer's opinion, Deftones gave Misfits a solid run for their money, the students clearly outperforming the masters. –Karen Gwee

Deftones interesting interview / article from Premier Guitar magazine (April 2016):
"PG spoke with Carpenter and Moreno about 7- and 8-string guitars, low tunings, click tracks, Carpenter's battle with his digital rig, and Moreno's need for simplicity."

New video interview with Abe Cunningham and Frank Delgado !
"I interviewed Deftones recently and wanted to share our video interview with you all. Watch as we discuss studio tension, gnarly injuries, scavenger hunts, hella good shows, and being the masters of juxtaposition."

Great Q&A. I normally wouldn't believe them when they talk about making their setlists better, but they did attempt it with introducing a lot more Gore songs (only three out of the entire album not played live), switching up the order, Kimdracula, MX, etc. So this time I do believe them. I guess it'll just take time for them all to feel confident enough to switch things up more and more.

I hope they do play Smile, that'd be awesome.

Good to see them just chilling and having fun anyway, usually they do Q&As via writing so it was cool to see them just doing their thing.

Whatever happened to releasing Phantom Bride as a single? Was hoping for "Crest" as a b-side.

It was released as a radio single. B-sides aren't often a thing anymore since singles are rarely released in physical versions. Since DE the band have been very "what you get on the album is what you get period" about their music. Chino was adamant not to have any b-sides, covers or unreleased tracks from KNY and it seems to be the same way with Gore.
