I love the cymbal loop effect going on here too. Is that a Frank move or is Abe actually making it happen.

I'm assuming you're talking about that snare/hi hat lick at the end of the chorus before it kicks back into the verses. That's all Abe, no electronic Frank magic goin on there.

Chino really cooked with the lyrics. Feels like he's trying to use some new words and imagery in his lyrics this time around. "Burning out the foxes from the vines" was definitely not on my bingo card.

I appreciate the info. I just love that sounds repeating like that. I don't recall hearing that on one of their songs before

Abe does that loop so flawlessly that it does sound like a drum loop or something. I'm excited to hear what Abe brings to the table on this record. I'm very impressed with his playing on the two singles. I love his groove on MMIAM, and he's got some stand out moments on Madonna as well.

I find them hard to compare. They are both very different songs. My personal taste for deftones songs is closer to Mountain, but I feel Madonna is a stronger song.

Those two tracks are so completely different, but if I had to choose one over the other, milk of the madonna for sure, mmiam seems so basic after listening to it, and I love mmiam. But in my opinion, milk of the madonna could easy have been the lead single... it's much more chaotic.. then it gives you a little breather.. then it snacks you on the face again

Your will is stronger than most. I'm impressed.

Having spent several weeks with Mountain and having only listened to Madonna like 4 times - I think I like Madonna more. Though the excitement I had for Mountain was far higher on initial listen. Both are great tracks, and have me extremely excited for what's left. I think we might be in store for peak Deftones.
