It's just not the same when you've been on this train for DECADES.

It gets very personal and emotional.

I disagree. The wait between white pony and self titled when i was 16 was much more personal and emotional because that band was all i had in life. It was a dangerous obsessions and i got deeply depressed when it wasnt what I expected. I am now a lot more rationale because I matured since and if the album isnt as great as I'd hoped, it's not the end of the world.

Yeah I remember when S/T dropped I was in a similar situation. It did not instantly vibe with me. I was 19 and my grandma that raised me had just passed away 8 months prior. I was like...*angry*. As a grown man I almost feel shame admitting I was mad a band didn't write what I was expecting.

The pizza place I worked at let us play music in the back so I just spun it on repeat for days. It started to grow on me over time and of course now I would take a bullet for that album lol. Not even a single second worth skipping. Just took time to get there. It feels almost blasphemous to think I did not instantly love songs like Hexagram, Needles, Deathblow, Cape, etc lol! It is my 17 year old daughters favorite album of all time though. When she got in to Deftones, she gravitated to ST because of the cover, and the music was just perfect for her tastes :)
Throw your faith in me. I'll take you some place brand new....

Not a damn thing as wrong with lucky you. I think what they are saying is that that's a deep cut and that's not just saying yeah I think I know that band but maybe I'm wrong. That's a deep fucking cut bro and I love it and I was weirded out by it at first, and when it came out, I was already 23 years old

And if you're feeling lucky...

Come and take me home...

What an immortal vibe ST is!
Good evening... and welcome to the white pony

To RaptureWS.... I envy that as I have a 10 year-old daughter that seems to be peeking around the corner wondering what pop is up to when Deftones is on. She has bought me a different Christmas sweater or socks the last four or five years based on this band. And I think she's starting to hear it. She's also a musician let's see anyways that's awesome man.

After several listens I can honestly say Milk of the Madonna is my favorite single since Leathers. I love everything this band does but this song is a terrific example of everything they do well and what each member brings to the table.

ST is my favorite record ever. It was the one that took the most to grow on me out of the first five. I can't help but to look at the albums that way, so don't even start I'm old. I love all the new stuff too. I don't think they've ever made a terrible record. And I listen to them all. Self titled is my thing thing. I had a couple skateboards made based on the artwork they gave us. They still hang in my garage. I glued Chino and Steve's guitar pics to one of them. And I threw all my crosses stickers from live shows on the other. Self titled is alien.

I like ST now, but a lot of it is too depressing for my mood most of the time.

Anyone have any idea what "Departing the Body" is not on the (upside down) tracklist of this YouTube thumbnail?

I noticed that. Madonna takes up two spots, so my guess is it's an error or they just left it off for visual consistency. Probably figured it's upside down and only us maniacs would even notice.

It's been thinking about this too. My guess would be It's a hidden track after ~Metal Dream but those aren't really done anymore in the age of music streaming so not really sure.

And so people are getting the whole around the fur vibe from elites' vocals. I totally hear it. Here's to stuff stepping down a string or two. Not being a guitar player. It seems possible to me, but someone else might say he's just playing that frankfurter differently.

Nothing wrong with it, just not my favorite. I have a whole story with that song and yea for someone who casually likes them to throw that track out threw me off.

Basically the story is when the Matrix Reloaded movie soundtrack came out, it featured that song. Which was my chance to hear an entire song from their (at the time) new album that was yet to release. I was so fucking stoked because the first Matrix had MOS so I was like "here we fucking go" and it was not at all what I was expecting. I skipped class to drive all the way downtown to a record store to get it, and on my drive back I got a flat tire. So yeah... lucky me...

As I stated, S/T took time to grow on me but it is my personal favorite, I don't see it as their best album, though, if that makes sense.

Hehe my introduction to Deftones was The Matrix soundtrack!

Hearing My Own Summer at age 8... there are no words.

And then my dad also got me the Reloaded soundtrack and that's also the first time I heard Lucky You

Literally what I have been saying. Best single since Leathers 100%. Well *my favorite* single since Leathers. And it's not particularly close. On reddit the split between Madonna and Mountain seems to be 50/50 , which is kind of surprising to me. That is the beauty of this band though.

We all have different aspects of their sound we gravitate towards because they do so many unique things. It's even kind of funny when you consider the guitar riffs are often just 2-3 notes, yet it's all so layered and just radiating different vibes. This band I swear.....
