Quote from: RaptureWS on Aug 08, 2025, 08:56 PMJust want to throw my hat in as well. Also been a fan since the '90s. I found them during ATF so this is my 8th album cycle. Deftones album drops are like genuine life events for me. I always  at least try to save vacation time so I can focus purely on the album. And as mentioned earlier, it's just such a great feeling to be in my 40s now, but have something that I look forward to that makes me feel like I'm in my 20s. Every single album I have adored. I do not love any other album more than the next (except ATF which will always be my GOAT).

I guess the only thing I cannot relate to is the excitement fading. It has never faded for me. Every single album I feel just excited as I did during my first album drop, watching all the leaks and song names. My entire family knows that every few years, I have about a month where my entire focus is this new album. This was the longest wait ever, but I have a feeling it's going to be worth every moment of it. I don't know how many more times we'll get to do this. For all we know this could be the last. I am so thankful that the band continues to make music. I know they do it for themselves and not for us, but it means everything to me that they are willing to make that music and share it with us.

But yeah I just enjoy the moment and I cannot wait for this thing to drop :) I have multiple CDs ordered, a new shirt ordered, and my digital order so I am ready to rock!

Couldn't agree more man. My wife, kids and friends know when it's Deftones album release time because it completely consumes me.  I'm so glad we have this place to talk about our favorite band because nobody in my personal life truly gets them like I do.

Agreed. I love that so many of us are right here.

I believe he is saying save save save me not say say say.... Makes more sense in the context of the song. I'm on fire, save me. To a priest or Jesus or whoever because it's obviously biblical. Once I realized that that's probably what he's saying I took a closer listen and could hear him saying save me at the end of the save save save part I could be wrong, but I hope I'm right because it makes it that much better.

One last Thing...You Should Beware the Content!!

Thank God that you........ love..... at all.

DefFsho

What a banger by the way. Great song. Biggest thing I'm struggling with is not listening to it anymore and that is a very good sign because I want to hear it in the record. I do it every time and I'm bummed when I wear these singles out. It has an everlasting negative touch on the album for me every time. It's the reason why I can listen to their first four or five albums all the way through and always have but it's a little more difficult for the last four or five. Ever since Saturday night wrist anyways. This album is its own in my opinion also. They all are...no comparisons.

DefFsho

Thanks for that. I just keep seeing lyrics posted that say say say say lol, man what a great surprise this track was. Anyone else notice the part in the beginning with Chino's voice also plays later in the song? I noticed somebody mentioned it's probably coming from the previous song and maybe it is but I feel like the same effect is in the song later. What do you think?

DefFsho

I think it's at the end of the breakdown without going into it and finding it again? Right before he comes back in with Holy Ghost?

DefFsho

Oh yeah by the way, what you guys were just talking about about the family understanding this is your time? 100%. I'm on loan right now to the band. :D

No shade on younger fans, but reading your comments and reflecting on my own experience, the longer you've been a fan, the heavier the relation to the band gets... for the better and for the worst.

It's just not the same when you've been on this train for DECADES.

It gets very personal and emotional.

Good evening... and welcome to the white pony

Quote from: StarSlinger on Aug 08, 2025, 07:17 PMDamn I listened.. and the new album fuckin sucks guys. It's Joever. They spent too much time in Shangri-la.

Btw, I looked at images of Shangri-la... and holy shit does that place looks like paradise, for real.

To think that this album was crafted in that environment is super interesting.
Good evening... and welcome to the white pony

I disagree. The wait between white pony and self titled when i was 16 was much more personal and emotional because that band was all i had in life. It was a dangerous obsessions and i got deeply depressed when it wasnt what I expected. I am now a lot more rationale because I matured since and if the album isnt as great as I'd hoped, it's not the end of the world.

DefFsho

Yeah, it is very personal at this point. 44 1/2 years old here and about a month after around the fur dropped is when I became pretty obsessed w this music. And nobody in my life really relates to it except for my little brother who I think just tries to have something in common, but doesn't really appreciate it like I do. That is funny in itself because he is 40 years old. Kind of sweet though... I even think my 10-year-old daughter tries, and I can't imagine trying to like this shit bc it just happens. Definitely an acquired Taste for people who truly love it. You also have people riding on a big wave of popularism today which is great! I think this record is going to be something I enjoy more than anything since Saturday night wrist just going off of this track alone.

DefFsho

we do need to remind ourselves, sometimes that this isn't our band. But it is for us.

Hey sharinglungs, do you think the way Milk was released confirms that the album will be available MIDNIGHT local time on the 22nd?

Quote from: Far away on Aug 08, 2025, 04:34 AMAfter 1st listen, not a big fan of Milk of the Madonna and I cant even tell why. Maybe the tempo or the amount of effects on his voice, idk. Just didnt like that much. Insane drums tho. MMIAM is way better, imo.

I agree, I listened to it once today and it's not my favorite so far. Of course it takes some listens for me with new Deftones for it to sink in, but I truly feel MMIAM way more atm.

I also agree with a lot of the comparisons to SP's Bodies. Makes sense since Chino performed it with them on stage.

Every new album and it's a new experience, I still get excited like  a kid but as an older fan now I'm cautiously optimistic ever since SNW and Gore. I remember being so disappointed though with S/T when it came out. It since grew to be my personal favorite, to me their technical best album is WP. Their best album overall is ATF.

I can't for the life of me get anyone I know to listen to Deftones. All my friends who have similar musical taste all have their own thing. Like my friend who loves NIN, just isn't that deep on them. I have no friends or family that listen to them, I tried so hard to get my older brother to listen to them but the closest I got was he said he thought Change was pretty good. Him and his wife listen to bands like Breaking Benjamin and shit, and I'm like "bro they fucking love Deftones, they covered their fucking song!".

I met one dude in college who saw my Deftones shirt while we were taking a smoke break and he was like "I kinda like them, my favorite song is Lucky You", and I'm like gtfo.

Yep, that's how most albums releases are these days.

Yup. NZ will most likely get it first, so it'll "leak" on Thursday at like 8 or 9AM EST. Official release will most likely be Midnight EST that night. Kinda like how motm came out early in NZ then "officially" at midnight est.

What's wrong with Lucky You? One of my favorites
