Considering Chino's been giving guitar duties to Lance Jackman and Shaun Lopez live, I wonder if this translates to more Steph-centric songwriting on the new record.

His live vocals are noticeably better since this change, so it would be interesting if they pursued this in the studio.

We'll see. Steph has said he's a rhythm guitarist instead of a lead, so maybe he focuses on the riffs and Lance will add flourishes? I will say, the little leads Chino did on KNY (Swerve City and Goon Squad bridges, the ending of Gauze) are actually really fucking cool...wouldn't mind some more stuff like that, whether its from Chino or Lance.

Don't bands usually do interviews during tours? Like sometimes they go to local radio stations etc. Maybe if they don't play new music they at least do some interviews that shed light on what's up. Here is to hoping!

Makes me then wonder how much contribution Lance, Shaun, or Fred will have on the album proper. I suspect minimal after the Sergio issues, but since it's all been hush-hush anything could be the case.

Maybe a Shaun Lopez "cameo" is most likely since he's a frequent collaborator?

I really hope it's not actually November. I shouldn't even entertain the thought because it's literally a random comment.....but the doomer in me is dwelling on it. Ugh. It will be here one day.

As for the music itself I am also super curious to see what happens with the lineup change. Steph had that comment saying something like it will be a continuation of KNY, Ohms and some things they have never done before. IDK about anyone else but I wlould love to hear Deftones do a kind of jazzy, groovy, funky type track or two. Something you can almost dance to. Doubt it...but a man can wish

Anyone remember those Chino Mixlr tracks that circulated around here and Reddit around 2023? I'm wondering if those tracks were 10th album demos that Chino sneakily debuted on his mixlr.

They also could've been Eros, a side project, etc.

Those snippets do sound like the anthemic nature of Ohms meeting the experimental KNY.

The timeline isn't perfect though, since 2023 is way before vocals or instrumentals were likely tracked or maybe even written for a demo.

No teaser the Friday before an arena tour begins is making me grasp for straws.

I need to hook up my old PC and get those clips on to my current PC. Personally, I always believed it was Deftones for the reasons you stated.

At least by Tuesday night, I will be able to just let go and accept the album is further than I initially thought. On the brightside, my sister is taking my 17 year old daughter to the show in Indy. It will be her first concert ever and Deftones are her favorite band, just like her Dad She is beyond stoked.
