The day before my birthday, that "Future Heavy" post was made. What a great birthday present at the time. I thought "sweet, we are getting close!" If any of this is true, jokes on me. We were still a year and a half away.

Would love to get real confirmation. Have 36 hours of vacation time I have been saving because I was *certain* this would be dropped before July 2025 (that's when my 90 vacation hours get refilled for the year.) Might as well use it for something else. Maybe Elden Ring Nightreign, or Silksong if THAT ever fucking gets announced. The three things I am looking forward to the most-Deftones by a mile, new Loathe and Silksong-are all going to be 5-6 year waits by the time they release. All my favorite things taking so much time .

I swear I saw a comment on Reddit in like Nov/Dec stating they had met Fred or Lance and asked about the new album, and was told the band was in the studio laying down a new track or two. At this point I assume they wrote a couple more tracks or replaced some tracks and that is what the hold up is. Chino was in the studio in May finishing vocals. The rest of the music was confirmed done (at the time). I dont know much about the inner workings of the music industry but it seems wild that it would take a year or more to finish an album and get it out the door if the music is done.

I made a reddit post about this, but I am getting a creeping feeling this may be their last album. I know that sounds crazy. Probably is crazy. I just don't understand what is taking so long.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

I remember that. That was Nov, and they claimed Fred said the album was in the mixing stage.
But kitesvera claims the album was only sequenced and in the mixing stage about 3 weeks ago.

He said his information was intentionally behind current schedule though i.e. it had been sequenced a while before.

What are some things people want to hear on this album?

If the KNY and Ohms comparisons are true, per Steph, I'm excited to hear the song transitions done by Frank and Stephen. Like how Rosemary went into Goon Squad, or Pompeji into TLID.

This! That would be a treat.

Also, I am hoping for better bridges. I feel like Ohms didn't have a lot of good bridge sections. I adore the album, but IMO that is the weakest part. Those moments of buildup and release. Error and Spell had decent ones. Headless swerves right into a bridge/outro section. That's about it from Ohms. The rest of the album has an immediate feel about it. If you've heard the first minute of the song you basically heard the entire track. Nothing wrong with that, just something that kind of stuck out to me.

Good point, I'm hoping this next album gets more experimental for similar reasons.

They've roughly alternated between "heavy" and "artsy" (for lack of better terms) from record to record since Self-Titled; so it feels like time to go the latter direction.

At this point in their careers, I'm going to try to not go in with too much of a preconceived idea of what I want it to sound like. For me, it's more of a numbers game - if its an eleven song album, give me at least seven songs that hit, no matter what they may sound like.

Been a fan since 98. So 7 album release cycles. Not ONCE has the record been even remotely close to what I expected in my mind.

You know what I wish they would do do, but never would? A freaking EP. That would be an awesome way to tide us over while we wait for the album.

Man the tour starts tmr, and still nothing, im feeling down abt this album, I bet it's gonna be a banger as always but it's crazy how long it's taking, im sure their done and going through advertisement things but if that's the problem God damn 😭💔
