After this record, love and peace made a lot more sense to me on a constant-basis.  Their lyrics have helped me better understand myself and life.

Nirvana - Unplugged MTV 1994

That's a weird nirvana choice, craig!

well, in cronological order:

Nirvana - Incesticide: They were my saviours from radio manufactured music. Still to this day I hold them dearly to my heart and take them as an example of artistic integrity. A few months ago I wrote a song in tribute to Mr cobain called "better never than late".

Metallica - master of puppets (the song): I got that feeling that I was entering into something huge since the first second I pressed play.

Deftones's first 3 record: finally I found Exactly what complemented me sonically perfectly. Since the first time deftones entered into my life, I knew it would be a lifetime relationship. It's the band that made me want to create my own music, and for that I'm forever grateful.

Cabezones - Alas: The argentinian deftones. I saw them about 15 times in 3 years, the first show I ever attended was theirs. Vocalist's voice watermarked my youth and development as a vocalist myself.

The cure - Bloodflowers: My introduction to soft, but still really heartfelt music. I'll always be a cure fan, no matter what.

Thursday's War all the time, GlassJAw's EYEWTKAS & thrice's vehissu: They all entered into my life christmas 2005. They ignited a new era of music hearing on me & influenced vastly my music development on guitar & general arranging. A lot of their lyrics speak a lot to me in all levels.

Letlive - Fake history: This band restored my faith in future. I hope everyone here checks it out, flawless and full passion, second by second. STAND UP.

I hope the list wasn't too boring, I felt it was better to put some things into context and talk about how they hit my life rather than make it an ordinary list. I hope the rest of you do the same; I want to know why art changed you forever too.

Thursday's War all the time

About MTV unplugged, it was the last recording before Cobain died, I'm sure you know this. It won a grammy and has some amazing songs on it.

War all the Time is without a doubt Thursdays best album, came out not to long after the 9/11 attacks and definitely has a patriotic aspect to it, and I'm not even American.

Weird Al Yankovic - Bad Hair Day

This album pretty much shaped my sense of humor and love of comedy for the rest of my life.

Adrenaline, Around the Fur, White Pony

Can't let go of that Puscifer album.

I don't remember the last time an album was THAT addictive. Eventually I will listen to something else again, but not today, not tomorrow. Not sure when tbh

Weezer - Pinkerton

Silversun Pickups - Carnavas (flawless. absolutely flawless.)

Metallica- And Justice For All
Korn- Follow the Leader
Deftones-White Pony

Korn's FTL is probably the one album that had the greatest impact on me.  It still sounds special to me every time I turn it on.  The beginning of "It's On!" gives me chills.

I found these guys right before r.o.c. came out.this shit molested my mind.it was just so raw and passionate and showed me the beauty of music after being overtaken and bored by mainstream stuff at the time. Its just to cool for this world.I was all on my own on this shit, all my friends HATEED it.I spent that whole summer searching for all there splits, eps and bootlegs, and was showing all of it off,I just stoped trying and was like fuck y'all ill just keep the greatest thing ever to myself.to me there discography is flawless, and they killed it before they lost control.i found it at the perfect time in my life,It opened my eyes to indie music a whole lot,and taught me the best music isn't at the big chain store, but in the dirtest, most cramped record store operated by music nazis in the bad part of town.

Devin Townsend is sending me towards sobriety with his 'GHOST'.
A very ambient melodic album to truly relax to and not feel like a black hole erupted in an open space filled of doubt and modern anxiety.

I cherish this album a lot, and both the artist. He is quite an inspirational dude.

He used to have any everything-problem, too. Sober and clean now. Loves life and his family. A true gem. One of the best musicians in the world. Look up to him, you should.

TheShade1989

Tokio Hotel - Zimmer 483: The first band I gt into. Before that I was exclusively into rap and RnB and a couple of rock songs dotted here and there. It was the first band I actually liked, and they're the reason I opened my mind to other bands, and then other genres of rock, heavier bands, etc.

Immortal Technique - first two albums: These albums I heard around the same time and it just kinda developed my mind, my maturity, outlook on the world, inspired me to wanna learn more about the state of the world, wanna help ppl, etc.

Deftones - White Pony and Deftones: I didnt first hear of Deftones until 2009, and the first song I heard was Beware. It took me forever to get into more of their music, but those two albums blew me away because of the emotion, the atmosphere, the raw feeling to it, Chino's voice, etc. It was all just powerful and made me see music as true expression and art as opposed to just listening to something that sounds nice. That I felt a connection with those songs and they'd make me feel better (or sometimes worse) listening to them.

The Mars Volta - Deloused In The Comatorium: At first I didnt like the seemingly-ridiculousness and chaotic nature of their music in general, but wen I read into the story and just listened more, I was just hit with this feeling of "fuck, how can humans be so creative and so deep?". Again, blown away by the creativity, the emotion, Cedric's voice, as well as the music itself. It was very different than the music I liked even at that point. I was getting into more types of music, but this was still very far-out for me. It was another album that inspired me.

Alborosie - all albums: Not really a fan of reggae minus a couple of Spanish reggae singers (not reggaeton). Alborosie was the first reggae musician whose music I liked in general, as opposed to beforehand wen it was one or two songs frm different ppl. It opened my tastes and although I dont like much reggae and dont like any of them as much as I love Alborosie, I like a few more reggae artists now because of his music.

These albums basically shaped my taste in music:

Saturday Night Wrist / White Pony - Deftones
Lateralus - Tool
Mer De Noms - A Perfect Circle
In Absentia -  Porcupine Tree
El Cielo - Dredg
Jar Of Flies - Alice In Chains
Vugar Display Of Power - Pantera
King For A Day, Fool For A Lifetime - Faith No More
Team Sleep - Team Sleep
Playing The Angel - Depeche Mode
Vol. 3 The Subliminal Verses - Slipknot
This Is A Pinback CD -  Pinback
Damnation - Opeth
obZen - Meshuggah
Billy Talent - Billy Talent (Horrific band, but I liked them when I was 12-13 years old. They also got me into having interest for music and finding new bands, instead of passively soaking up what's on the radio or on MTV like before)

Many albums have had a monumental impact on my life and I consider myself a lover of music through and through. My life could almost be catalogued in chapters of what I was listening to and how it moulds my view of certain ages and times. Certain pieces of music stick out though. It never seems to be certain songs either. I'm an album guy. I never download the single, I get the album and I view albums as one big piece for the most part. These are a few of those albums that hold a particularly special place. Not necessarily my favourite or what I consider to be the best albums ever (though 2 or 3 could easily be), but rather what stands out when I think about certain periods in my life.

Deftones - White Pony: This album changed my view of music at the time. Particularly heavy music and turned me onto a lot of stuff I probably would never have heard otherwise.

Deftones - Saturday Night Wrist: This is the most important and personal album in my entire life PERIOD. It came out at the absolute darkest time in my life when everything that could go wrong did and I lost everything that ever mattered to me. I was homeless, heartbroken, alone, turning to drugs and it was a particularly harsh winter. This album shaped me as a person from that point forward and served as a source of comfort. People shit on this album sometimes and thats okay but it saved my life. That's not a corny over exaggeration either. This album was an integral part in my decision to not kill myself.

Coheed and Cambria - In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth 3: My preconceptions of rock bands were shattered and this album was the jumping off point to make Coheed the second most important band in my life after Deftones. It's also a very special reminder of my girlfriend whom I love more than I can imagine loving anything else.

Radiohead - OK Computer: Another album that changed my perception of music and served as the second most important album during the aforementioned dark period of my life.

The Beatles - The Beatles  (The White Album): This album made me a Beatles fan and was an album a dear friend of mine and I would bond over as we looped it over and over and ditched school to smoke pot and play risk. He passed away a few years back and I miss him dearly. This album however continues to provide many great memories and is something I'll always cherish. That summer was the greatest period of my life.

Pink Floyd - The Wall: I stole this cassette from my brother as a kid and I had no idea who Pink Floyd were. This album was the beginning of my life long love affair with music. I'm still a massive Pink Floyd fan this day and a few years I got to see Roger Waters perform the album live. None of my friends could get the time to go or afford to go but I flew to Montreal, stayed a week there and went to this concert by myself because I just had to see it. It was and continues to be an album that means very much to me. There are so many memories involved with this album for me and it has a special significance among myself and some friends, some of whom I've kept and some I've lost. Every once in a while this album comes back into my rotation and it always has a profound effect on me.

Hey Rosetta! - Plan Your Escape EP: This was the soundtrack to a relationship I had that fell apart in an awful way after 4 years together. It was my first major relationship and I was deeply in love. It's still very special to me. I recommend it highly. Some spots are still tough to listen to but overall I come out feeling like I've grown a lot. It's a great album for self reflection for me.

Our Lady Peace -  Happiness... Is Not A Fish That You Can Catch: Go ahead and scoff. I still love this album and it's a great chunk of music from a band that never again matched that greatness and got rather terrible after that. But when this came out I thought it was the fucking best shit ever. My best childhood friend (Allan) and I would listen to this album constantly and read Mad magazine and thoroughly enjoy life. Kind of funny because this is such a horribly depressing album for the most part. It was the apex of my innocence and an integral part in shaping my musical taste. Good times.

Weezer - Pinkerton: This album is junior high for me. It is the soundtrack of my adolescence. 'Nuff said.

Honorable mentions:
Porcupine Tree - Fear of a Blank Planet
Faith No More - Angel Dust
Any Tool album
Slipknot - Slipknot
KoRn - Follow the Leader
Stan Rogers - From Fresh Water
Incubus - Make Yourself
Stevie Ray Vaughn and Double Trouble - Texas Flood
AFI - Sing the Sorrow (yeah... I know)
Elliott Smith - From a Basement on the Hill.
