Quote from: pheelium on May 04, 2006, 12:29 AMThe Matrix Soundtrack featuring My Own Summer was probably a big one too. It took me out of my nu-metal Staind and Linkin Park phases and threw into the world of REAL metal where I discovered the Deftones and got totally hooked.

Same here. Strange, but same.
Me too! It threw off the shackles of pop/rock & nu-metal, It made me notice how narrow my image of music had been.

the first actual cd i ever owned was : rage against the machine, evil empire.
it was given to me by my friend at school, bcus his mom would hav kicked his ass if she heard it, and i had NO CLUE what it was, or who they were! just Happy, that i had a cd! (cassettes were what us oldies use to listen too when we were little). and i remeber when i got home and put it on, i was like whhhhhhhhhhhat.

i could go on forever with cds that "changed me" but the one that sticks out the most for me is

smashing pumpkins: siamese dream

it was the first cd, that made me realize music is more then melody, instruments and singing...

Deftones - Around The Fur

I just feel like ATF is a perfect record from the first track all the way to the bong hit to Damone. When chino explained this record saying it was just being stuck in this certain zone and it was all just fluent as hell, i see exactly what he was saying, its just perfection.

Its got alot of sentiment to me, from certain songs ive shared with best friends over the years to just places ive been in my life and hearing this record at those times. I'd like my second record to be half as good as this, if somehow i could match it, that would be my dream.
