Far away

#3380
Im ok if they decide to never release Eros. Would I like it? Absolutely! Do I want it? YES, but I imagine revisiting those memories and all that, even after many years must be difficult. And reliving all that stuff to "make fans happy"? I dont see it.

Maybe they might do it to close the door on it, idk... I just dont see it happening. Maybe some years after they hang the instruments. Think about this: its literally math. Theres a 50-50 chance (some) fans hate it. Why going tru all that bad shit again while also risking people shitting all over it online. Would you want to link all that history with one of your best friends, who passed away in a tragic way, to people being a-holes bc they didnt like what they heard? I wouldnt touch that shit if I were in the band. What we got is enough for me.

Thats just me though.

About Private Music: its 8 more days. We waited all this time... no way Im gonna listen to leaks. I've done it before.

Pass.

Curious to see which new songs they'll play in Vancouver... Maybe just the singles?
Check your email, man. Check your email

deftones is super far into their careers and they know the fans want to hear specific songs. They are not the type of band that fills their set list with new songs, so yea, I would expect only about 3 new songs.

StarSlinger

I'd only expect the 2 singles given their recent track record when it comes to the set lists. The downside of having 10 albums, you have to please everyone somehow. Many are seeing them for the first time so you have to play the hits, maybe a couple deep cuts for the hardcore fans, that only leaves room for 2 maybe 3 new songs.

If they do a Private Music tour, then I could see them doing more of the new stuff.

I agree with what buflen said below. But they do need to play MOTM live. Honestly I think it should become a staple of their live sets. It's a very high energy song, but the notes are not out of Chino's range. It's literally the perfect life song for this stage of their career. I guess the big thing will be if the crowd gets into it or not. It's a crowd is noticeably dead during that track versus the rest of their sets, they may not keep it in the rotation long. But yeah very curious to see what new cellist will look like!
Throw your faith in me. I'll take you some place brand new....

Go listen to the new Chevelle album, that can help pass some time

They gave us Lovers last year. I'm still in shock over that one.

I guess the interviews will be arriving at the same time as the reviews next week.

Remember when Amazon would have 30 second previews of new songs on a new album?

I used to appreciate that, but now days I think it would just drive me crazy only hearing 30 secs of each track!

Oh damn, I remember that... I just don't have any will power when it comes to listening to new Deftones. Respect to those who wait and resist the temptation. I wish I could experience just one album of theirs complete from start to finish, with no spoilers.

buflen

I honesly draw the line at 30 seconds sample. I am not ruining my first listen experience for parts of songs without context.

I know everyone is still hyped with MOTM at the moment, but I'm still vibing with MMIAM. The 1:22 mark where the chugging gets on the low end just gets my head nodding every time. Is it just me?  I don't much about playing guitar but I guess he's chugging on the lower strings? It just sounds so good to my ears.

MMIAM couldn't have come at a better time for me in my life. I have went through the worst time in my life mentally this summer. I was in such a bad mental state that I was afraid Deftones would release the album or singles while I was going through it, and I didn't want to experience it that way. My mind and body began to heal when MMIAM released and it's so synchronous and uplifting to my situation. It's now my theme song for overcoming my own thoughts and mental state.

I fucking love you Deftones

I am mad you reminded me of the existence of this song.

My insincerest apologies. Here, this will make it all better:
