Deftones - private music (Album Thread)

Ohms was highly anticipated. The pandemic played a big part in that but Private Music definitely has a different larger feel about it. It really does feel like a big event in the music world.

I don't know about that and I am not sure what you mean by that. It always seems like there's a huge hype and buzz around a deftones release in the music community, Gore and Ohms weren't exceptions.

Agreed. I think the hype from the regulars feels the same. The only thing that feels different is the amount of people that are currently hype for it. This is the first album anticipation for their new legion of younger fans. My son and I have a tradition of listening to the new album together as soon as it releases and this year my younger daughter is joining us. All of her friends are hype. It's a beautiful thing to experience.

The hype for this new album is through the roof - but that's par for the course when it comes to any and every new Deftones album around here. But their fanbase is arguably larger than it's been in a long time, so by that logic this would be the biggest hype for a new album from them,  since probably White Pony or Diamond Eyes era?

the hype has always been there, it feels a little different now due to the current *new* success the band are having at this stage in their careers, I'm all for it, they are selling out huge venues, the new material sounds amazing, roll on 22nd August!

My favorite album is ATF.

My least favorite is Adrenaline.

The other seven albums are all equal to me. Yes, that even means on some days I might like Gore better than self-titled or White Pony. It's just how it is. I love everything they do.

With that said, I've had a suspicion that private music might just grab that number two spot. I don't know why. I've never had this feeling before. I sure hope I'm right. And if not, new Deftones is still a new Deftones and it's always fucking extraordinary.

Hi all, I'm a long time lurker and not a first time poster (I used to have an account at Ohms era, but I am not able to reset the password, anyway)

I'm really looking forward to hear some stuff close to Spell of Mathematics or Headless, two of my favorite Ohms songs. I'm curious to see if the band will still bet on experimental aspects or follow a more straight-forward approach like in MMIAM and MOTM. So far, I've listened more to MMIAM than MOTM, which is kinda a skippable song for me - let's see in the context of the entire album though
