Deftones - private music (Album Thread)

Feel like if Eros ever sees the light of day it will be as it stands right now. Don't think they will add anything.

Based on what's been said by deftones over the years, the chances of eros being released are very low.
Chino Moreno has mentioned several times that the material exists, but that it feels "stuck in time" and doesn't represent the band as they are today. The recordings were made shortly before Chi Cheng's accident, which carries a heavy emotional weight. Releasing the album could reopen old wounds for them. They've also said that while some songs turned out good, the album as a whole wasn't finished and might not sound like something they'd want to officially put their name on. Bands rarely release material like this unless there's a special reason (anniversary, box set, tribute). Yah,maybe on an anniversary or special occasion. The band could decide to mark 20 or 25 years since the start of the Eros recording sessions (2008) with a box set or commemorative edition which means 2028 would mark exactly 20 years since they began recording it.

Let me be clear, I'm not saying we're definitely going to get it. But I think anything can happen, and never say never. Am I sitting around waiting on it no? But I never thought RATM would reunite, and they did. There was a while where I didn't think we'd ever get another Tool album. There was a time where I didn't think Final Fantasy 7 Remake would actually happen after waiting for like 13 years. I never thought my favorite manga/anime Bleach would get its final arc animated and it happened after 10 years. Just saying, it's not an impossibility, it's very unlikely. But who knows where their heads are at in another 10-15 years. I lean more towards we will eventually get it but it won't be for a LONG time from now, probably once the band decides to retire.

I waited around every day for those video clips to come out during that era and I'm not afraid to say I still want it and I can't wait to hear it. It definitely will be released one day probably as is when they are all done. They know how bad people want it and that is why There's no reason to not release it. As long as they are still making new music, it will sit. But we will get it one day just not now.

I'd happily settle for a B-Sides and Rarities 2 with Melanie, Smile and Dallas as the only Eros songs on it.

I still think that the " i've got a secret" before hole in the Earth has not been revealed yet. I have a feeling anyways that it might be something on the album. I know it's a long stretch, but I haven't seen anything concrete other than the reveal of the album title. But we all knew that was coming anyways, so it's not really a secret and never really was because we knew a record was coming out that was unnamed. The fact that he did it multiple times throughout the shows in Europe.... I hope there's something in store for us along those lines. And we live to dream.

Technically you're right. Those were pre-existing photos that he used and had to get cleared by the photographer. What I meant was for Private Music, I believe he actually shot the snake himself and also did the graphic design work.

The instagram came from someone that worked on the album so them getting it now means nothing about a possible leak early.

Yeah, highly doubt this pro photographer is going to leak the album. But the implication is there are physical copies out in the wild, being sent to certain people. I doubt he's the only person that got a copy a week early.
