I'm really excited about this new stage/era, the interview with Zane Lowe helped me understand a lot of what has happened with the band during this time and you can tell they are very motivated for the next steps.

btw, glad to be back for good reasons, luisch here, long time visitor of this forum. I lost my previous account, and I couldn't recover it even if I requested a password change via email. If any Moderator can help me with this I would be very grateful.

Did Diamond Eyes and Koi No Yokan leak? I think they were both streamed early online — I remember my first listen of Diamond Eyes being an early stream on the NME website — but I can't recall if they leaked first.

Diamond Eyes leaked in March and released in may.

agree more. Especially the guitar tone part. Im also glad Chino didnt tried to scream his head off too much. I love the more agressive stuff but the dude is in his mid 50's, theres no way he can keep screaming like he used to. Its fine to just do it in small dosis if or when the music asks him to.

At least in MMIAM, it was the perfect spot for everything. Idk if Stef is using a 6 or 7 string guitar on the song, but Im glad its not a fucking 8, 9 or whatever the fuck. This is their sound I fell in love with. Its perfect, not too much chugging.

Stephen 100% plays an 8 string guitar on this song.
He just doesn't use the lower notes. The song can be played on a 7 string or 6 string in B Standard, technically.
I would argue that he is chugging a lot on this track. Only during the bridge he properly strums his chords

He 100% uses the 8 string, and he 100% uses the lower strings. I'm recording it on my computer now on my 8string tuned to Drop E and the Drop E string is used.

Sucked for them but I loved getting to hear the demos.

They have progressively gotten better about their album leaks since then. I think the time frame now is like a week to a few days before the actual release date.

Oh nahhh. just doing a little recording to see how close it is to the real thing when I see stef play it. Some people say its in F# standard, which is what I thought at first, some say it's in Drop C.. Stef said the album is in Drop E...

So, I just recorded myself playing it in Drop E and it sounds about as good as I can figure out by ear..

I've never been permanently in Chile, only twice to see Deftones, once in 2012 and again in 2015 (that festival with Gojira, SOAD and FNM was amazing), I've always worked with Klauthio and Mono from Deftones.cl from a distance, but the page is about to be down for a decade haha.

I really loved the song. I really like the dynamics and the guitars so present, the drums so marked is a beast. I think it's a new air for the band, Chino's timming for the lyrics is incredible (the verse is IMMENSE), Fred's contribution is noticeable from moment 1.

I really have a lot of hype about all of this.

This makes a lot of sense. I remember reading and hearing in several interviews (even I think in some album credits) that some members, like Chino and Abe, refer to Chi as "Mountain Man".
