Yo! Received fed my cassette and signed print bundle today. Just waiting on vinyl and zine from the official store and signed CD from Newbury.

So, purchased the album on all formats and glad I did as it's an absolute keeper and any little contribution to the band is an important one in my book.

I somehow enjoyed that review, it was like watching a funny roast of yourself someone you really like

I haven't watched the review but is he taking the "both sides" lyric as a political statement? I guess you can take it as that, but with most Chino lyrics, I think it's maybe not that clear-cut and can have multiple meanings. I think it's about forging your own path in life and figuring things out for yourself more than some kind of "I'm not a democrat or a republican" viewpoint.

Its clear he's not a fan of the band. Good for him . He gave daughters a 10. That is one of the most painfully pathetic records I've ever heard.

I happen to love the first half of the record and think the second half lacks a little bit.. so to each their own.

I don't actually mean this as a dig but I don't consider what he does to be 'music criticism'. It's not engaged enough beyond his instinctive, subjective reaction to the sounds. That's fine for what it is but I find his presentation muddled in terms of subjective/objective (I know it's hard to straddle between those two but he tries to have his cake and eat it to the point that the "You know this is just my opinion" line just seems like a cop-out), and because it's not engaged enough, he inevitably misrepresents intention and tone; for example, I don't think he's necessarily wrong about the meaning of that Genesis lyric but he clearly caricatures the tone and so fails to understand it.

Honestly, I find his whole thing very dull. Even to try and disagree with his opinion seems to be lending it more than it's worth. I care as much about him giving it a 3 as I would have done had he given it a 10. Complete indifference.
