Quote from: Moana91 on Aug 08, 2025, 10:52 PMNo shade on younger fans, but reading your comments and reflecting on my own experience, the longer you've been a fan, the heavier the relation to the band gets... for the better and for the worst.

It's just not the same when you've been on this train for DECADES.

It gets very personal and emotional.

100% this. Ive first listened to Deftones when I was 15, 16..Im 43 now. I still, to this day, get very excited about new records dropping. This one is no different. Just bc I didnt like a song, out of 11 or whatever it is, doesnt mean I think the record is going to suck. Who knows? Maybe listening to it with the full thing blasting...might change how I feel about MOTM.

Im glad Im older now, because until I was able to watch them live for the 1st time in '07 (I dont live in the US/Europe, so its harder for us down here to see them live) I was obsessed. After it, things got healthier, lol.

What's a single from Deftones that you didn't like at first and then got better with time?
Good evening... and welcome to the white pony

Quote from: StarSlinger on Aug 09, 2025, 05:20 AMIt's not that he's completely hated on Deftones or anything - it's just when he talks about them, he has this smarmy "too cool" for this attitude in the past.. He's come off a little passive aggressive towards reviewing their music at times but he's had some good things to say about them as well. Bit of a mixed bag when it comes to Fantano x Deftones. Maybe the new album will bring him fully around.
he seems like a right cunt

I dont even know. I dont think so. Im really emotiomnal when it comes to 1st impressions/reactions, etc. I dont usually go "meh". Either I love it or I dont. It didnt use to have something in between. Nowdays it happens sometimes. Thank God. All or nothing is really tiring, lol.

The fact that the album comes out at midnight... it's gonna be so special. Like The Polar Express arriving at your door hahaha.

Going for a late night walk to hear it...

I wouldn't listen to the early NZ leak from that day even if you paid me, it would ruin the experience!
Good evening... and welcome to the white pony

So glad this is a short rollout. Couldn't stand a three-month wait for this.

Feels like it's only just been announced yet it's only the week after next that it comes out.

For which album did they leave a 3 month gap between first single and full release?

I don't think Deftones specifically but a lot of bands these days are doing two, three, or four month rollouts.

Six weeks is perfect.

I'm getting impatient for some interviews though.

For me it's Hexagram. I remember buying the cd on release day and just wasn't vibing with Hex. It grew on me within a week. Now it's like top 5 favorite songs. But initially I just wasn't vibing with it at all for some reason.

Tempest sounded a little too radio friendly for me, if you know what I mean

Puro Pinche Deftones ALV Cuh

Dawnofwar2010

I didn't know about deftones during that time, but Tempest to me is like a filler song, it doesn't do much for me, its got catchy lyrics, but like its a plain song for me. Its the most skippable deftones song for me, its like they tried to do a cinematic song [I know it appeared in fast and the furious] its not bad but its not good either
My dad says Deftones gay, but he doesn't know real music

Hexagram will always be my fav. I remember downloading it early and burning it so I could take it to school so me and Buddy could listen. We skipped the first two classes sitting in his car just listening to it on repeat *memories*

Nice! Yeah self titled holds a special place in my heart. It was the first new release of their's since becoming a fan. I had turned 16 around the time it came out and had got my license. I skipped school that morning so I could run to the store and buy the album. I drove around with it on repeat. That album left a mark and it was essentially my soundtrack in my mid teens through high school. Hugely influential for me. It's always going to be my personal favorite Deftones album, and one of my favorite albums of all time, period.

Remember Stef saying the old School fans are gonna love this one? And then he goes on with Zane Lowe with the guys and says he hasn't heard the record yet. I'm not sure if he meant he didn't hear Chino on it yet or just the final mix, but I think what he means by it is maybe some old flashes From early on, maybe some sounds but I think he's saying he's playing maybe a six or seven string guitar...Even if a little bit. Not sure what he meant by old-school fans are gonna love it, but I'm hoping that's it or at least one of the reasons. I'm really loving the guitar sound and riffs on milk. Also, my brother mentioned the line about burning the foxes out from the vines being from the Bible? I'm not familiar so I don't know but that just adds more to this song for me...
